Moderately saline water has been proposed as a potential irrigation resource for crops such as forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor × Sorghum bicolor nothosubsp. drummondii) in drought-prone regions. However, it is not yet fully understood how salinity affects growth and potential toxicity of sorghum.

One major environmental concern is the lead (Pb) pollution from automobile traffic, especially in highway-side grazing areas. Sheep grazing in Pb-contaminated areas are particularly vulnerable because Pb exposure from soil, water, and feed can have harmful effects that impair their general health, reproductive capability, and immune systems. Long-term hazards to cattle from persistent Pb exposure include neurotoxicity, hematological abnormalities, reproductive health problems, and immunosuppression.

Introduction: Sheep associated-malignant catarrhal fever is a frequently fatal, lymphoproliferative, and vascular disease caused by ovine gammaherpesvirus 2 (OvGHV2), a member of the malignant catarrhal fever virus (MCFV) complex. OvGHV2-related epidemics normally have reduced morbidity with elevated lethality.
Methodology: This study investigated the causes of elevated morbidity, mortality, and lethality in cattle maintained on Brachiaria grass pastures and with neurological and enteric disease syndromes from nine farms in Paraná, Southern Brazil.

Prepared and stored feeds, fodder, silage, and hay may be contaminated by toxic plants resulting in the loss of livestock. Several poisonous plants have played significant roles in livestock deaths from forage consumption in recent years in the Western United States including Salvia reflexa. Metagenomic data, genome skims and metabarcodes, have been used for identification and characterization of plants in complex botanical matrices including diet composition of animals, mixed forages, and herbal products.
