Experimental and clinical studies have shown that surgical procedures on the liver and biliary tracts particularly accompanied by compression of the hepatoduodenal ligament in order to perform temporal hemostasis are followed by activation of kinin-formation. In most traumatic operations it exceeds the limits of regulatory mechanisms and is a cause of hemodynamic disturbances. Protease inhibitors are recommended to prevent such complications.
