A three-dimensional (3D) waveguide model is applied in extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography simulations. The 3D waveguide model is equivalent to rigorous coupled-wave analysis, but fewer field components are used to solve Maxwell's equations. The 3D waveguide model uses two components of vector potential, and , corresponding to the two polarizations.

Exploration of the dynamics of otic capsule and intracochlear pressure: Numerical insights with experimental validation.

J Acoust Soc Am

January 2025

Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, University Hospital Zurich, University of Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland.

The otic capsule and surrounding temporal bone exhibit complex 3D motion influenced by frequency and location of the bone conduction stimulus. The resultant correlation with the intracochlear pressure is not sufficiently understood, thus is the focus of this study, both experimentally and numerically. Experiments were conducted on six temporal bones from three cadaver heads, with BC hearing aid stimulation applied at the mastoid and classical BAHA locations across 0.

Aim: To develop and validate an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tool based on convolutional neural network (CNN) for automatic segmentation of root canals in single-rooted teeth using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Methodology: A total of 69 CBCT scans were retrospectively recruited from a hospital database and acquired from two devices with varying protocols. These scans were randomly assigned to the training (n = 31, 88 teeth), validation (n = 8, 15 teeth) and testing (n = 30, 120 teeth) sets.

Background/purpose: The performance of intraoral scanners (IOSs) relies on the operator's skills. However, whether operator experience influences IOS accuracy remains unclear. This study investigated the effect of operator experience on the trueness accuracy and time-based efficiency of IOSs.

Background/purpose: studies are essential for understanding cellular responses, but traditional culture systems often neglect the three-dimensional (3D) structure of real implants, leading to limitations in cellular recruitment and behavior largely governed by gravity. The objective of this study was to pioneer a novel 3D dynamic osteoblastic culture system for assessing the biological capabilities of dental implants in a more clinically and physiologically relevant manner.

Materials And Methods: Rat bone marrow-derived osteoblasts were cultured in a 24-well dish with a vertically positioned dental implant.
