Over the past twenty years, "less-lethal" munitions have caused a variety of significant, life-threatening injuries. However, evidence of blunt cardiac injury due to these weapons is sparse. A healthy 44-year old man presented with hemodynamic instability due to cardiac tamponade after he was shot with a beanbag, ultimately requiring operative intervention. This case report describes a unique clinical presentation of blunt cardiac injury and the diagnostic and therapeutic steps that the trauma surgery team took to appropriately manage this rare injury.

Purpose Of Review: To outline the latest discoveries regarding the utility and reliability of serum biomarkers in idiopathic recurrent acute pericarditis (IRAP), considering recent findings on its pathogenesis. The study highlights the predictive role of these biomarkers in potential short- (cardiac tamponade, recurrences) and long-term complications (constrictive pericarditis, death).
Recent Findings: The pathogenesis of pericarditis has been better defined in recent years, focusing on the autoinflammatory pathway.

Background: Temporary transvenous pacing (TTP) is a common procedure, predominantly performed in the catheterization laboratory (cath lab) because of presumed lower complication rate. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of TTP placement in the ICU compared to TTP placement in the cath lab.
Methods: This retrospective, real-life study included all patients requiring TTP in a tertiary care ICU between 2019 and 2022.

Video-assisted thoracoscopy surgical diaphragmatic plication is the standard of care for diaphragmatic eventration. However, it is associated with complications like injuries to the bowel, liver, spleen, and lung parenchyma. We report life-threatening cardiac tamponade after Video-assisted thoracoscopy surgical diaphragmatic plication.

Background: Penetrating cardiac trauma is an entity with high pre and intrahospital mortality due to complications such as cardiac tamponade and massive hemothorax. A ventricular septal defect (VSD) occurs in 1-5% of cases and can present early or late. The management strategy for VSD resulting from penetrating cardiac trauma is uncertain.

Background: Ventricular tachycardia (VT) in patients with cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) can lead to sudden cardiac death. The role of ventricular tachycardia ablation (VTA) in CS has been investigated in a few small, single-center, and larger observational studies, but the evidence still needs to be provided. This study aimed to investigate the clinical outcomes of VTA in patients with CS admitted with a diagnosis of VT.
