Introduction: Sociodemographic disparities in tobacco use are prevalent and persistent in the United States. Nevertheless, few studies have examined disparities in tobacco use from an intersectionality perspective. We developed a visualization tool to identify disparities in cigarette, e-cigarette, cigar, and smokeless tobacco use at the intersection of multiple social identities.
Aims And Methods: We used the 2018-2019 Tobacco Use Supplement to the Current Population Survey (TUS-CPS) to estimate the prevalence of tobacco product use at the intersection of age (18-34, 35-54, ≥55 years), sex (male, female), race/ethnicity (Non-Hispanic [NH] White, NH Black, Hispanic, NH Other), and annual household income (<$50 000, $50 000-$99 999, and ≥$100 000). Estimates accounted for the complex survey design.
Results: For cigarettes, the most defining characteristic was income, with the highest prevalence among low-income NH White male adults aged 35-54 years (30.7%) and low-income NH White female adults aged 35-54 years (29.7%). For e-cigarettes, the most defining characteristic was age, with adults 18-34 years old having the highest prevalence. High prevalence groups for cigars included young- and middle-aged NH Black and NH White males, while NH White males had the highest prevalence of smokeless tobacco use.
Conclusions: Our intersectionality visualization tool is helpful to uncover complex patterns of tobacco use, facilitating the identification of high-risk groups.
Implications: We created a visualization tool to identify disparities in cigarette, e-cigarette, cigar, and smokeless tobacco use at the intersection of age, sex, race/ethnicity, and income. Our visualization tool helps uncover complex patterns of tobacco use, facilitating the identification of high-risk population groups that would otherwise be masked. These results can be used to implement tobacco control policies targeted at factors that promote or sustain tobacco use disparities.

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), mainly caused by cigarette smoking, is one of the leading causes of death in the United States (US) and frequent asthma attacks are often exacerbated by cigarette use. Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) are often used to quit cigarette smoking. Prevalence of COPD, asthma, cigarette use, and e-cigarette use differs between racial/ethnic groups.

Introduction: Cervical fusion surgeries are commonly performed to stabilize the spine and relieve pain from various conditions. Recent increases in nontobacco nicotine product use, such as electronic cigarettes, present new challenges because of their unknown effects on spinal fusion outcomes. Our study aims to explore the effect of nontobacco nicotine dependence (NTND) on the success of cervical spinal fusions.

Importance: It remains unclear how socioeconomic status (SES) is related to the association between diet and health, as well as the role of behavioral factors, in explaining socioeconomic disparities in health outcomes.
Objective: To investigate the associations of neighborhood and individual SES factors, as well as behavioral factors, particularly dietary pattern, with health outcomes.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This prospective cohort study included US health professionals without chronic diseases at baseline who were enrolled in the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study (calendar years 1988-2018), the Nurses' Health Study (calendar years 1992-2018), and the Nurses' Health Study II (calendar years 2001-2019).

Objective: To estimate the prevalence and to evaluate trends and disparities in the occurrence of smoking among pregnant women living in the municipality of Rio Grande (RS), in the extreme south of Brazil, between 2007 and 2019.
Methods: All pregnant women living in this municipality who had a child in one of the local hospitals between January 1st and December 31st in the years 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2019 were included in the study. The interviews took place within 48 hours after childbirth.

Background: Sexual minority young adults (SMYAs) display higher rates of polysubstance use (i.e., current use of multiple substances) than their heterosexual peers, but limited research has explored differences by gender and specific sexual identity.
