Flying insects are thought to achieve energy-efficient flapping flight by storing and releasing elastic energy in their muscles, tendons, and thorax. However, 'spring-wing' flight systems consisting of elastic elements coupled to nonlinear, unsteady aerodynamic forces present possible challenges to generating stable and responsive wing motion. The energetic efficiency from resonance in insect flight is tied to the Weis-Fogh number (), which is the ratio of peak inertial force to aerodynamic force.

This case report shows unique aneurysm at the left ventricular apex associated with a double-chambered left ventricle (DCLV) in asymptomatic 69-year-old female. The aneurysm was located at the apex of an accessory chamber, which was formed by hypertrophied muscle band and the interventricular septum, along with a pronounced jet flow directed towards the apex aneurysm. These finding suggests that the obstruction at the base of the accessory chamber caused a pressure overload at the apex, ultimately leading to the development of the aneurysm.

Catalysts are critical components for chemical reactions in industrial applications. They are able to optimize selectivity, efficiency, and reaction rates, thus enabling more environmentally friendly processes. This work presents a novel approach to catalyst functionalization for the CO reduction reaction by combining the reactive species of an atmospheric pressure plasma jet with the electric fields and energy input of a laser.

Introduction: Porcine circovirus 2 (PCV-2) is a key pathogen for the swine industry at a global level. Nine genotypes, differing in epidemiology and potentially virulence, emerged over time, with PCV-2a, -2b, and -2d being the most widespread and clinically relevant. Conversely, the distribution of minor genotypes appears geographically and temporally restricted, suggesting lower virulence and different epidemiological drivers.

Video frame interpolation methodologies endeavor to create novel frames betwixt extant ones, with the intent of augmenting the video's frame frequency. However, current methods are prone to image blurring and spurious artifacts in challenging scenarios involving occlusions and discontinuous motion. Moreover, they typically rely on optical flow estimation, which adds complexity to modeling and computational costs.
