Sternal fractures resulting from blunt chest trauma often present unique surgical challenges. While conservative management is common, cases with significant displacement, delayed union, or painful dyspnea may require surgical intervention to improve structural stability and relieve symptoms. Here, we report the case of a 46-year-old man who sustained a displaced sternal fracture in a motor vehicle accident.

Phosphaturic mesenchymal tumor (PMT) is a rare benign mesenchymal tumor characterized by excessive secretion of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), leading to phosphate loss and systemic osteomalacia. Despite recent progress in PMT research, no consensus on diagnosis and treatment guidelines has been established. This case series describes the clinical and pathological features of six pathologically confirmed PMT patients treated at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from 2010 to 2024, aiming to provide new insights for the management of this condition.

Refractory cancer pain affects 10-20% of patients with advanced malignancies and is not adequately controlled by opioids. The intrathecal therapy is an effective interventional procedure for referral, but the implanted infusion pumps are costly and the refilling requires technical expertise. Hypophysectomy, in its three stages-surgical, chemical, and radiosurgical-has emerged as an alternative for managing this pain.

Background: A previous Australia-wide pilot study identified pain as a significant burden in people with CF (pwCF). However, the prevalence, frequency and severity have not been evaluated using validated tools.
Methods: Australian adults, pwCF and healthy controls (HC) were invited to complete an online questionnaire from July 2023 - February 2024, consisting of four validated tools: Brief Pain Inventory, Pain Catastrophising Scale, PAGI-SYM and PAC-SYM.
