Transient receptor potential vanilloid type 4 (TRPV4) channels are Ca-permeable non-selective cation channels which mediate a wide range of physiological functions and are activated and modulated by a diverse array of stimuli. One of this ion channel's least discussed functions is in relation to the generation and maintenance of certain pain sensations. However, in the two decades which have elapsed since the identification of this ion channel, considerable data has emerged concerning its function in mediating pain sensations. TRPV4 is a mediator of mechanical hyperalgesia in the various contexts in which a mechanical stimulus, comprising trauma (at the macro-level) or discrete extracellular pressure or stress (at the micro-level), results in pain. TRPV4 is also recognised as constituting an essential component in mediating inflammatory pain. It also plays a role in relation to many forms of neuropathic-type pain, where it functions in mediating mechanical allodynia and hyperalgesia. Here, we review the role of TRPV4 in mediating pain sensations.

Hyperpolarization-activated and cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) ion channels are members of the cyclic nucleotide-binding family and are crucial for regulating cellular automaticity in many excitable cells. HCN channel activation contributes to pain perception, and propofol, a widely used anesthetic, acts as an analgesic by inhibiting the voltage-dependent activity of HCN channels. However, the molecular determinants of propofol action on HCN channels remain unknown.

Cancer is a major health challenge globally and in Sri Lanka. Providing comprehensive information to patients is crucial for improving treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction, supported by evidence of its effectiveness in managing cancer pain. EORTC QLQ-INFO25, an information module developed by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Group, is aimed at assessing cancer patients' perception of information received during different phases of care.

Aim: Aberrative occlusal contacts were associated with Temporomandibular disorder (TMD), but whether stabilization splints with therapeutic exercises alleviate the symptoms is unclear. Hence, this study aims to compare the short-term efficacy of occlusal splint therapy and the synergistic effect of therapeutic exercise with occlusal splint therapy for 3 weeks in individuals with TMD.

Settings And Design: in-vivo observational pilot study.

This study determines video's effect on pregnant women's pain, anxiety, and perception of labor using virtual reality glasses during the active and transition phases of childbirth. This randomized controlled study was conducted with 60 pregnant women (30 in each group) admitted to the delivery room of a hospital. The data were collected by personal information form, visual comparison scale-pain, visual comparison scale-anxiety, and perception of birth scale.

Background: A Delphi study was conducted to reach a consensus among international clinical and health care experts on the most important health and functioning self-reported concepts when evaluating a switch from smoking cigarettes to using smoke-free tobacco and/or nicotine products (sf-TNPs).

Objective: The aim of this research was to identify concepts considered important to measure when assessing the health and functioning status of users of tobacco and/or nicotine products.

Methods: Experts (n=105), including health care professionals, researchers, and policy makers, from 26 countries with professional experience and knowledge of sf-TNPs completed a 3-round, adapted Delphi panel.
