Democratic innovations offer a promising set of interventions to empower citizens, reduce polarization, and reimagine participatory governance. This article examines the Petaluma Fairgrounds Advisory Panel (PFAP), a citizens assembly convened to deliberate the future of a locally significant property. This qualitative study consisted of 15 panelist interviews exploring panelist experiences of nine equity strategies incorporated into the PFAP design as well as broader themes around how equity was conceptualized.

Background: Management of opioid withdrawal in hospital settings is crucial to improve treatment completion and health outcomes among patients who use opioids, such as heroin. Evidence-based clinical guidelines can support responsive provision of opioid substitution therapy (OST). In England there is no standardised application of guidance for substance dependence management across National Health Service (NHS) Hospitals.

Introduction: Millions of persons with chronic pain across North America and Europe use opioids. While the immunosuppressive properties of opioids are associated with risks of infections, these outcomes could be mitigated through careful patient selection and monitoring practices when appropriate. It is important to recognise that some patients do benefit from a carefully tailored opioid therapy.

Background: Biosimilars are highly similar, but not identical, versions of originator biologic medications. Switching patients to biosimilars presents an opportunity to mitigate rising drug costs and expand patient access to important biologic therapies. However, decreased patient acceptance and adherence to biosimilar medications have been reported, which can lead to loss of treatment response, adverse reactions, and inefficient resource utilization.
