Bionic adhesive materials with 3D complex micro/nanostructures have several advantages of low preload, strong adhesion, switchable adhesion, etc. As the primary high-precision fabrication method for such materials, lithography is inherently limited by its 2D processing capabilities. Achieving complex 3D morphologies typically requires auxiliary processes, such as dipping and double-sided separate UV exposures, which increase both the complexity and limitations of the fabrication process.

Total Percutaneous Transfemoral Endovascular Treatment of Non-A Non-B Aortic Dissection.

JACC Case Rep

January 2025

Chinese Institutes for Medical Research and Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China.

Although open repair remains the mainstream treatment for aortic arch dissection, its surgical complexity and perioperative complications are significant. We developed a novel stentgraft system for less-invasive endovascular aortic arch repair. We successfully performed a total percutaneous transfemoral endovascular repair of aortic arch dissection using a novel off-the-shelf endograft system.

Right ventricular (RV) dysfunction after biventricular repair is critical in most adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD). Conventional 2D magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) measurement is considered as a 'gold standard' for RV evaluation; however, addition information on ACHD after biventricular repair is sometimes required. The reasons why adjunctive information is required is as follows: (I) to evaluate the severity of cardiac burden in symptomatic patients with normal RV size and ejection fraction (EF), (II) to determine the optimal timing of invasive treatments in asymptomatic ones, and (III) to detect proactively a potential cardiac burden leading to ventricular deterioration, from a fluid dynamics perspective.

Investigation of Shear Behavior in High-Strength Bolt Connectors for Steel-Concrete Composite Beams.

Materials (Basel)

December 2024

Key Laboratory of New Technology for Construction of Cities in Mountain Area, School of Civil Engineering, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400045, China.

High-strength bolt connectors, known for their robust strength and ease of disassembly, are suitable not only for the construction of new steel-concrete composite beams but also for reinforcing existing composite or steel beams. Static push-out tests were performed on nine specimens to examine their shear behavior. The primary failure mode was observed at the steel-concrete interface, characterized by the tensile-shear failure of the bolt and localized crushing of the concrete beneath the bolt.

MHC-I proteins present epitopic peptides to CD8+ T cells to elicit multifaceted adaptive immune responses. The affinity and avidity of interactions between peptide-MHC molecules and T-cell receptors (TCR) are fundamental parameters that contribute to the induction of activated or anergic T cell states. Here, we present a loadable system, VLP-Open HLA, featuring a virus-like particle (VLP) that can accommodate up to 60 loadable HLA (HLA - human leukocyte antigen) molecules.
