ortho-Nitroaniline (o-NA) compounds are deemed to be a strongly toxic pollutant in nature and potentially carcinogenic; however, they are frequently utilized to synthesize dyes, pesticides, medicines, fungicides, pigments, and other organic chemicals. Their detection in an aqueous medium is fundamentally required to avoid the potential hazardous being created by these compounds. In this study, a novel sensor based on an Iron oxide (FeO) containing highly dispersed nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs@FeO NFs) was demonstrated for the electrochemical detection of o-NA using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) techniques. N-CQDs@FeO NFs were synthesized by hydrothermal method and studied by various analytical and spectroscopy techniques, which collectively reveal that the as-prepared composite has superior physical and chemical properties. The DPV study indicated that the o-NA sensor had a good limit of detection, linear range, and sensitivity in the range of 1.2 nm, 0.03-386.84 μM, and 36.5575 μA μM cm, respectively, along with the sensor showed superior sensitivity when compared to the previously reported modified electrodes. Further, N-CQD/FeO NFs worked as heterogeneous catalysts for the photocatalytic reduction of o-NA to o-phenylenediamine (o-PD) in an aqueous medium. The reaction was examined under UV-Visible spectroscopy, and the complete photocatalytic reduction was observed for the N-CQD/FeO NFs in about 6 min with 96% as compared to other control samples; thus, authenticating the superiority of the synthesized composite in rendering the real-time applications.

An aqueous solution of a common food dye, Fast Green FCF (FG), mimics cholyl-lysyl-fluorescein to visualize embryonic bile flow via single peritoneal injection into intrauterine mouse embryos. Despite its efficacy in embryos, its suitability for adult mice and small to medium-sized mammals remained uncertain. In this study, we investigated FG cholangiography in adult mice, dogs, and goats.

The adsorption of charged clay nanoplatelets plays an important role in stabilizing emulsions by forming a barrier around the emulsion droplets and preventing coalescence. In this work, the adsorption of charged clay nanoplatelets on a preformed Latex microsphere in an aqueous medium is investigated at high temporal resolution using optical tweezer-based single-colloid electrophoresis. Above a critical clay concentration, charged clay nanoplatelets in an aqueous medium self-assemble gradually to form gel-like networks that become denser with increasing medium salinity.

Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have emerged as promising solvents for biocatalysis. While their impact on enzyme solvation and stabilization has been studied for several enzyme classes, their role in substrate binding is yet to be investigated. Herein, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of horse-liver alcohol dehydrogenase (HLADH) are performed in choline chloride-ethylene glycol (ChCl-EG) and choline chloride-glycerol (ChCl-Gly) at varying water concentrations.

Dry eye disease is a multifactorial condition characterized by a loss of homeostasis of the tear film. Among the various treatment approaches, the application of ophthalmic oil-in-water nanoemulsions with incorporated anti-inflammatory drugs represents one of the most advanced approaches. However, the liquid nature of nanoemulsions limits their retention time at the ocular surface.

Micelle-enabled bromination of α-oxo ketene dithioacetals: mild and scalable approach enzymatic catalysis.

The bromination of α-oxo ketene dithioacetals using KBr/HO, catalyzed by vanadium chloroperoxidase (VCPO), has been successfully demonstrated. A comparative study of enzymatic processes "on water" "in water", using 2 wt% of the surfactant TPGS-750-M revealed that the in-water protocol not only provides higher yields but also accommodates a broader substrate scope. This bromination method in an aqueous micellar medium enabled the preparation of brominated α-oxo ketene dithioacetals in fair to excellent yields (23 examples).
