Herein, we report the preparation of temperature-responsive antibody-nanoparticles by the direct polymerization of -isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) from immunoglobulin G (IgG). To this end, a chain transfer agent (CTA) was introduced into IgG, followed by the precipitation polymerization of NIPAAm in an aqueous medium via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization above the lower critical solution temperature (LCST). Consequently, antibody-polymer particles with diameters of approximately 100-200 nm were formed. Owing to the entanglement of the grafted polymers via partial chemical crosslinking, the antibody-nanoparticles maintained their stability even at temperatures below the LCST. Further, the dispersed nanoparticles could be collected by thermal precipitation above the LCST. Additionally, the antibody-nanoparticles formulation could maintain its binding constant and exhibited a good resistance against enzymatic treatment. Thus, the proposed antibody-nanoparticles can be useful for maximizing the therapeutic potential of antibody-drug conjugates or efficacies of immunoassays and antibody recovery and recycling.

A series of polyurethanes (PU-GT) were prepared using polyglycolide-block-polytetrahydrofuran-block-polyglycolide (PGA-PTHF-PGA), polytetrahydrofuran homopolymer (PTHF), glycerol, and hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) by a one-pot synthesis method. The non-isothermal crystallization and subsequent heating curves showed that the PTHF component in these polyurethanes could crystallize in a temperature range of -11.5~2.

In this work, temperature-responsive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and the guanylthiourea (GLA) were used to modify chitosan (CS) to prepare a novel PNIPAM/GLA/CS adsorbent for Ag(I) ions. Temperature variations near the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) facilitate the adjustment of functional group distribution within the composite material, thereby influencing its adsorption performance for silver ions. The characteristics of this composite material were confirmed using a variety of techniques, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), variable-temperature ultraviolet-visible near-infrared spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Skull defects are common in the clinical practice of neurosurgery, and they are easily complicated by encephalitis, which seriously threatens the life and health safety of patients. The treatment of encephalitis is not only to save the patient but also to benefit the society. Based on the advantages of injectable hydrogels such as minimally invasive surgery, self-adaptation to irregularly shaped defects, and easy loading and delivery of nanomedicines, an injectable hydrogel that can be crosslinked in situ at the ambient temperature of the brain for the treatment of encephalitis caused by cranial defects is developed.

Background: In recent years, the utilization of stem cell therapy and cell sheet technology has emerged as a promising approach for addressing spinal cord injury (SCI). However, the most appropriate cell type and mechanism of action remain unclear at this time. This study sought to develop an SCI rat model and evaluate the therapeutic effects of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell (hUC-MSC) sheets in this model.

Buildings, especially installed windows, account for a large proportion of global energy consumption. The research trend of smart windows leans towards multi-functional integration, concurrently achieving solar modulation and thermal management. However, sometimes a one-time performance switch cannot meet demands, making the design of multi-gradient adjustable smart windows particularly important.
