The synthesis of a tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivative, -[4-({4-[(2,2'-bi-1,3-dithiol-4-ylmethoxy)methyl] phenyl}ethynyl)phenyl] ethanethioate, suitable for the modification of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), is described in this article. The TTF ligand was self-assembled on the AuNP surface through ligand exchange, starting from dodecanethiol-stabilized AuNPs. The resulting modified AuNPs were characterized by TEM, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and electrochemistry. The most suitable electrochemical method was the phase-sensitive AC voltammetry at very low frequencies of the sine-wave perturbation. The results indicate a diminishing electronic communication between the two equivalent redox centers of TTF and also intermolecular donor-acceptor interactions manifested by an additional oxidation wave upon attachment of the ligand to AuNPs.

Purpose: In this randomized clinical trial, we examined the incorporation of nanogold particles into polymethyl methacrylate denture bases and compared these modified bases with conventional ones in mandibular implant-retained overdentures, focusing on microbiological growth and adhesion characteristics.
Methods: In this study, twenty-two male patients who were completely edentulous participated in a rehabilitation program involving mandibular overdentures retained by two dental implants placed in the canine area. The subjects were categorized into two equal groups, each comprising eleven patients.

Single nanoparticle (NP) cyclic voltarefractometry (CVR), realized as wide-field surface plasmon resonance microscopy (SPRM) in combination with potential cycling, has been proposed and applied to the in situ study of TiO NPs. Electrochemical activity of TiO is mainly observed outside the electrochemical stability window of water. Therefore, the response of individual anatase (a-TiO) and rutile (r-TiO) NPs adsorbed on a gold layer was studied in 0.

An optical biosensor is a specialized analytical device that utilizes the principles of optics and light in bimolecular processes. Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) is a phenomenon in the realm of nanophotonics that occurs when metallic nanoparticles (NPs) or nanostructures interact with incident light. Conversely, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is an influential analytical technique based on Raman scattering, wherein it amplifies the Raman signals of molecules when they are situated near specific and specially designed nanostructures.

In this paper, we present a facile yet effective method for the fabrication of core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) of magnetite (FeO) and polydopamine (FeO@PDA) and their decoration with a tunable amount of gold NPs (AuNPs). For this, FeO NPs were fabricated through the polyol method and AuNPs were deposited onto FeO@PDA via anchoring of as-prepared citrate-stabilized AuNPs or reduction of Au ions. PDA with its numerous catechol groups enabled the decoration of AuNPs in a well-controlled manner.
