Distillation is the most widely used method to obtain an essential oil from plant material. The biomass used in the process is returned as a solid residue together with variable amounts of water rich in water-soluble compounds, which currently are not addressed to any further application. The scope of this work was to evaluate the phytochemical composition of wastewaters coming from hydrodistillation (DWWs) of five aromatic plants belonging to the family, and to assess their in vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. The phenolic profiles of the DWWs were determined by HPLC-DAD and HPLC-ESI/MS. Free radical scavenging ability, oxygen radical antioxidant capacity and superoxide dismutase mimetic activity of the samples under study were measured. Moreover, to investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of the DWWs, an in vitro experimental model of intestinal inflammation was used. The DWW samples' phytochemical analysis allowed the identification of 37 phenolic compounds, all exhibiting good antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. Our study contributes to the knowledge on the polyphenolic composition of the DWWs of five aromatic plants of the Lamiaceae family. The results highlight the presence of compounds with proven biological activity, and therefore of great interest in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical fields.

Background: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), a chronic inflammatory autoimmune illness, is characterized by synovitis, progressive joint damage, and bone erosion. Even though the potent drugs available contain biologics, several patients fail to react to them or cause hostile effects.
Objectives: Betanin (BTN), the betacyanin present in the red beetroot, has antioxidant, antiinflammatory, and apoptotic properties.

Currently, the synthesis of bioactive sulfonamides using amino acid as a starting reagent has become an area of research interest in organic chemistry. Over the years, an amine-sulfonyl chloride reaction has been adopted as a common step in traditional sulfonamide synthetic methods. However, recent developments have shown amino acids to be better precursors than amines in the synthesis of sulfonamides.

Background Severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) manifests as a critical state marked by acute abdominal symptoms, often associated with intestinal barrier dysfunction, exacerbating SAP retroactively. Ganoderic acid A (GAA) demonstrates anti-inflammatory properties in various inflammatory disorders. Nonetheless, its potential therapeutic impact on SAP and the underlying mechanisms remain unexplored.

Amnesia is a memory disorder marked by the inability to recall or acquire information. Hence, drugs that also target the neurogenesis process constitute a hope to discover a cure against memory disorders. This study is aimed at evaluating the antiamnesic and neurotrophic effects of the aqueous extract of () on in vivo and in vitro models of excitotoxicity.

The damaging effects of heavy metal exposure on vital organs like the heart, liver, kidneys, and brain can be lowered by natural compounds' anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant capacity. In the current investigation, the protective potential of savory()essential oil (EO) against lead acetate-induced multi-organ damage in rats was evaluated. Thirty female Wister Albino rats were divided into the following groups: normal, positive control given lead acetate without concomitant treatment, reference given ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic acid and groups treated with savory EO (0.
