Basic requirements for advanced and practical supercapacitors need electrode materials with strong stability, high surface area, well-defined porosity, and enhanced capability of ion insertion and electron transfer. It is worth mentioning that the two-dimensional cluster-based Ni/Co-organic layer () inherits high stability from the Kagóme lattice and shows excellent pseudocapacitance behavior. As an optimized atomic composition, this crystalline CMOL exhibits excellent performance and stability both in 1.0 M KOH and All-Solid-State Flexible Asymmetric Supercapacitor (ASCs). The specific capacitance values are 1211 and 394 F g and the energy density is 54.67 Wh kg at 1 A g. Good cycling stability is characterized by its capacitance retention, maintained at 92.4% after 5000 cycles in a three-electrode system and 90% after 2000 cycles at 20 A g for assembled All-Solid-State Flexible ASCs. An in situ XRD technique was used in the three-electrode system, which showed that there was no signal of crystalline substance that affected the cyclic stability of the material while charging and discharging. These superior results prove that is a promising candidate for supercapacitor applications.

It is promising but still challenging for the widespread application of aqueous zinc batteries due to the poor reversibility of the zinc anode caused by prevalent dendrite growth and pronounced interfacial side reactions. Herein, we report a rare soluble and water-stable high-nuclearity {NdSiW} polyoxotungstate. Interestingly, upon encountering Zn ions, the discrete {NdSiW} nanocluster undergoes a structural transformation to form an infinitely extended cluster-based {[Zn(HO)][NdSiW]} two-dimensional honeycomb layer, with which atomic-level Zn ion effects in reconstructing the layer are determined.

The thermal unimolecular decay of ethoxy is important in high-temperature combustion environments where the ethoxy radical is a key reactive intermediate. Two dissociation pathways of ethoxy, including the β-C-C scission to yield CH + CHO and the H-elimination to make H + CHCHO, were characterized using a high-level coupled-cluster-based composite quantum chemical method (mHEAT-345(Q)). The former route is found to be dominant while the latter is insignificant, in agreement with previous experimental and theoretical studies.

Construction of mesoporous frameworks by noncovalent bonding still remains a great challenge. Here, we report a micelle-directed nanocluster modular self-assembly approach to synthesize a novel type of two-dimensional (2-D) hydrogen-bonded mesoporous frameworks (HMFs) for the first time based on nanoscale cluster units (1.0-3.

Surface ligands play crucial roles in modifying the properties of metal nanoclusters and stabilizing atomically precise structures, and also serve as vital linkers for constructing cluster-based coordination polymers. In this study, we present the results of the solvothermal synthesis of eight novel copper alkynyl clusters incorporating pyridine ligands using a one-pot method. The resulting compounds underwent characterization through elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD).
