Purpose: The objective of this study was to determine physician perceptions regarding the importance of and comfort with the use of medical genetics and genomics in medical education and practice, as well as physician expectations for medical trainees.

Methods: A retrospective survey was sent to physicians employed by a health system associated with a public medical school to assess their perceived training in medical genetics and genomics and their comfort level with ordering genetic testing.

Methods: Despite reporting formal genetics training in medical schools, clinicians' comfort with and knowledge in this content area does not meet personal expectations of competency. Though physicians report some discomfort with the use of medical genetics and genomics, the majority also believe that its impact on practice will increase in the next five years. Survey recipients were also asked about their expectations for preparation in the same domains for medical students and incoming residents. The surveyed physicians expect a high level of competency for medical students and incoming residents.

Methods: Our study revealed that practicing physicians feel current medical curricula do not produce physicians with the necessary competency in medical genetics and genomics. This is despite physicians' perceived importance of this domain in medical practice. Our findings suggest a need for re-evaluation of medical genetics and genomics education at all levels of training.

Background And Objectives: Identifying genetic causes of dementia in patients visiting memory clinics is important for patient care and family planning. Traditional clinical selection criteria for genetic testing may miss carriers of pathogenic variants in dementia-related genes. This study aimed identify how many carriers we are missing and to optimize criteria for selecting patients for genetic counseling in memory clinics.

Purpose: MAP2K1/MEK1 mutations are potentially actionable drivers in cancer. MAP2K1 mutations have been functionally classified into three groups according to their dependency on upstream RAS/RAF signaling. However, the clinical efficacy of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway inhibitors (MAPKi) for MAP2K1-mutant tumors is not well defined.

The cytoplasmic membrane of bacteria is composed of a phospholipid bilayer made up of a diverse set of lipids. Phosphatidylglycerol (PG) is one of the principal constituents and its production is essential for growth in many bacteria. All the enzymes required for PG biogenesis in have been identified and characterized decades ago.

Department of Pathophysiology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou 450000, China.

Recent studies have demonstrated that chronic stress can enhance the development of multiple human diseases, including cancer. However, the role of chronic stress in esophageal carcinogenesis and its underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear. This study uncovered that dysregulated cholesterol metabolism significantly promotes esophageal carcinogenesis under chronic stress conditions.
