Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of three-dimensional (3D) visualization technology assisted percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in the treatment of complex upper urinary tract calculi.

Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed clinical data from 127 patients with complex upper urinary tract stones admitted to Yongchuan Hospital, Chongqing Medical University from January 2020 to January 2023. According to the treatment methods, the patients were divided into an observation group (3D visualization technology assisted PCNL, n = 69) and a control group (conventional PCNL, n = 58).

In biology and life sciences, fractal theory and fractional calculus have significant applications in simulating and understanding complex problems. In this paper, a compartmental model employing Caputo-type fractional and fractal-fractional operators is presented to analyze Nipah virus (NiV) dynamics and transmission. Initially, the model includes nine nonlinear ordinary differential equations that consider viral concentration, flying fox, and human populations simultaneously.

Prediction of oral diseases in care dependent older people.

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

Department of Odontology, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Nørre Allé 20, Copenhagen, 2200, Denmark.

Background: A large number of older people depend on others for help with their daily personal care, including oral health care. Nursing home and elder-care staff often face challenges identifying older people, who are exposed to or at an increased risk of oral diseases. Thus, the aim of this study was to identify risk factors that non-dental care staff can use to identify older people at risk of oral diseases and poor oral hygiene.

Background: Gallstone disease (GSD) is a prevalent gastrointestinal disorder, few studies have examined the combined effects of dietary and lifestyle factors on GSD. This study aims to investigate the relationship between oxidative balance score (OBS) and GSD, and explores the potential mediating role of oxidative stress.

Methods: Cross-sectional data from 6,196 participants in the NHANES 2017-2020 were analyzed.

Purpose: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) as an established procedure for treatment of large kidney stones, can trigger life threatening complications. Postoperative hemorrhaging is one of the main complications of PCNL. This study investigates the effectiveness of balloon nephrostomy in reducing hemorrhage in the postoperative phase of PCNL.
