Aim: Air pollution remains the single largest environmental health risk factor, while atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent arrhythmia globally. The study aimed to investigate the relationship between short-term exposure to air pollution and acute AF admissions.

Methods: Individual data on AF hospitalization in the years 2011-2020 were collected from the National Health Fund in Poland (ICD-10: I48.

The present study quantified simultaneous determination of the active components included in Valzomix HCT tablets are hydrochlorothiazide (HCT), valsartan (VAL), and amlodipine (AML). Two chemometric methods-continuous wavelet transform (CWT) and ratio subtraction (RS)-along with a rapid and effective spectrophotometric approach-which does not require preparatory separation-were used to do the analysis. The CWT approach applied the zero-crossing method to analyze several wavelet families and selected the Daubechies 2, Symlet 2, and Biorthogonal 1.

Transcatheter Caval Implantation for Severe Tricuspid Regurgitation.

Curr Cardiol Rep

January 2025

Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Heart Vascular & Thoracic Institute, Cleveland Clinic, 9500 Euclid Avenue, J2-3, Cleveland, OH, 44195, USA.

Purpose Of Review: We describe the evolution of caval valve implantation (CAVI) as a treatment for severe symptomatic tricuspid regurgitation (TR) in the high surgical risk patient.

Recent Findings: Surgical treatment of severe TR is often limited by the high surgical risk of the patients who tend to develop severe secondary TR. Coaptation, annuloplasty, and orthotopic replacement strategies are all limited by annular and leaflet geometry, prior valve repair, and the presence of cardiac implantable device leads.

Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death in ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV). Screening and primary cardiovascular prevention may improve outcomes.

Methods: We identified patients in the 2002-2019 Mass General Brigham AAV cohort with thoracic CT scans obtained for other clinical purposes.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the use of continuous video-electroencephalography (cEEG) to detect seizures in infants and children in a cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU), emphasizing symptoms and risk factors that led to cEEG evaluations.
  • Among 605 cEEGs performed over 38 months, seizures were found in 9% of cases, with a significantly higher detection rate (30%) when both vital sign and non-vital sign symptoms were present, while isolated vital sign changes did not yield any seizures.
  • The results indicated that certain symptoms (like gaze deviation and abnormal limb movements) and risk factors (like preexisting epilepsy and recent neuroscience surgeries) were linked to a higher likelihood of seizure detection, highlighting
