Article Abstract
The modification of protein electrostatics by phosphorylation is a mechanism used by cells to promote the association of proteins with other biomolecules. In this work, we show that introducing negatively charged phosphoserines in a reactant is a powerful means for directing and accelerating the chemical modification of proteins equipped with oppositely charged arginines. While the extra charged amino acid residues induce no detectable affinity between the reactants, they bring site-selectivity to a reaction that is otherwise devoid of such a property. They also enable rate accelerations of four orders of magnitude in some cases, thereby permitting chemical processes to proceed at the protein level in the low micromolar range, using reactions that are normally too slow to be useful in such dilute conditions.

Cholesterol (Cho) is commonly used to stabilize nanoliposomes; however, there is controversy on the relationship between Cho and health. In this study, we developed a novel multifunctional nanoliposome utilizing structurally similar sitogluside (SG) and dioscin (Dio) instead of Cho to anchor the phospholipid bilayer and synergistically modulate the membrane properties of the nanoliposome (DPPC or DOPC). The storage and gastrointestinal tract stability experiment demonstrated that the changes of physical and chemical properties, including the significantly reduced size and Dio retention rate of nanoliposomes synergistically modulated by SG and Dio compared to those of SG alone, regulated nanoliposomes.

The functional units of natural photosynthetic systems control the process of converting sunlight into chemical energy. In this article, we explore a series of chemically and structurally modified bacteriochlorophyll and chlorophyll pigments through computational chemistry to evaluate their electronic spectroscopy properties. More specifically, we use multiconfigurational and time-dependent density functional theory methods, along with molecular dynamics simulations, to compute the models' energetics both in an implicit and explicit solvent environment.

To investigate the remediation effect of iron-manganese-modified biochar from different biomasses （FM-BC） on Cd-contaminated alkaline soil, FM-BC was prepared using branches of , durian shells, and corn stalks. The characteristics of FM-BC, the adsorption of Cd（Ⅱ） in water, and the available, fraction of Cd in alkaline soil were studied using bath adsorption and soil culture experiments. The results showed that the specific surface area, total pore volume, and oxygen content of FM-BC were significantly improved.
