The present study for the first time investigated the effects of Salicylic acid (SA) (50, 100 and 200 mg/L) on growth and antioxidant capacity of . SA significantly enhanced shoot multiplication at 100 mg/L concentration. The result showed highest significant increase in antioxidant activity by 50 mg/L SA elicited plantlets in terms of DPPH (2,2-Di-phenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl) free radical scavenging activity (IC50 32.42 ± 0.51), Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Activity (292.73 ± 2.09 mg AAE/g dw) and Metal Chelating Activity (IC50 13.18 ± 0.52). The Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) profiling revealed presence of 46, 38, 34 and 29 phytochemicals in control, SA1, SA2 and SA3 methanolic extracts respectively. Among the identified compounds, eight compounds, 4H-Pyran-4-one,2,3-dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl; 1,3,4,5-tetrahydroxy-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid; 3,7,11,15-Tetramethyl-2-hexadecen-1-ol (and Phytol); hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester; 9,12-Octadecadienoic acid (Z,Z)-,methyl ester; di-n-octyl phthalate; stigmast-5-en-3-ol,(3.beta.)- or ß- sitosterol; and squalene were previously known for antioxidant potential.

Background: The jasmonic acid (JA) and salicylic acid (SA) pathways are often thought to interact antagonistically in plants when mediating anti-herbivore resistance. However, we previously found that the two pathways in tea plant interact synergistically when treated with 1.5 mmol/L methyl jasmonate (MeJA) and 20 mmol/L SA at 12 h intervals (MeJA+SA treatment).

Potato is cultivated all the year round in Pakistan. However, the major crop is the autumn crop which is planted in mid-October and contributes 80-85% of the total production. The abrupt climate change has affected the weather patterns all over the world, resulting in the reduction of the mean air temperature in autumn by almost 1.

Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and biochar (BC) are recognized as effective biological agents for enhancing stress tolerance and mitigating heavy metal toxicity in crops. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effects of the cadmium (Cd)-resistant PGPR strain Leclercia adecarboxylata HW04 (>4 mM Cd resistance) on soybean plants exposed to 300 μM Cd. HW04 was observed to possess the innate ability to synthesize indole-3-acetic acid and exopolysaccharides, which facilitated the absorption of Cd in the medium.

Maintaining a stable basal level of salicylic acid (SA) is crucial for plant growth, development, and stress response, though basal levels of SA vary significantly among plant species. However, the molecular mechanisms by which basal SA regulates plant growth and stress response remain to be elucidated. In this study, we performed a genetic screen to identify suppressors of the root growth defect in Osaim1, a rice mutant deficient in basal SA biosynthesis.
