Lead-free ceramic materials produced from bismuth sodium titanate (NaBiTiO, NBT)-bismuth potassium titanate (KBiTiO, KBT) have been developed through a solid-state reaction technique. The structural, dielectric, and piezoelectric characteristics of the ceramic materials were analyzed. Based on the XRD investigation, the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) was determined for the composition ( (%) = 16 and 20). The effects of the KBT phase on the NBT lattice were examined using the charge density distribution. Furthermore, the dielectric properties indicated the presence of a negative dielectric constant (ε') as a function of frequency between 1 kHz and 2 MHz. Negative permittivity was observed globally in the (1 - )NBT-KBT ceramic which reflects the effect of the dielectric resonance. The grain conduction effect is revealed through the complex impedance spectrum in the form of a semicircular arc within the Nyquist plot. In addition, the samples studied revealed a non-Debye relaxation phenomenon. The relaxation time was determined based on the Vogel-Fulcher law for all samples. DC conductivity was carried out on the ceramics material and revealed that the resistance decreases with increasing temperature indicating a negative temperature coefficient of resistance. The AC conductivity as a function of frequency for different temperatures suggests the presence of a thermally activated conduction mechanism. The activation energy has been determined based on the Arrhenius plot of the DC electrical conductivity as well as the relaxation frequency.

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) for symmetrical supercapacitors are proposed herein with activated carbon as electrodes and optimized solid polymer electrolyte membranes, which serve as the separators and electrolytes. We propose the design of a low-cost solid polymer electrolyte consisting of guanidinium nitrate (GuN) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) with poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP). Using the solution casting approach, blended polymer electrolytes with varying GuN weight percentage ratios of PVP and PEO are prepared.

This paper introduces a novel method for measuring the dielectric permittivity of materials within the microwave and millimeter wave frequency ranges. The proposed approach, classified as a guided wave transmission system, employs a periodic transmission line structure characterized by mirror/glide symmetry. The dielectric permittivity is deduced by measuring the transmission properties of such structure when presence of the dielectric material breaks the inherent symmetry of the structure and consequently introduce a stopband in propagation characteristic.

Terahertz radiation patterns can be registered using various detectors; however, in most cases, the scanning resolution is limited. Thus, we propose an alternative method for the detailed scanning of terahertz light field distributions after passing simple and complex structures. Our method relies on using a dielectric waveguide to achieve better sampling resolution.

In this work, three composite materials based on Terfenol-D and PZT-type material were obtained with a classic sintering method using a combination of 0-3 phases, where the ferroelectric phase was doped PZT material (P) and the magnetic phase was Terfenol-D (T). The percentage of P and T components in the composites was variable, i.e.

As a kind of high-performance thermoplastic crystalline resin, poly(4-methyl-1-pentene) (PMP) is characterized by its low density, low dielectric constant, exceptional mechanical and chemical properties, high transparency, and gas permeability. PMP has recently received more attention since COVID-19, because it is used as a hollow-fiber membrane for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) based on its high permeability and excellent biocompatibility. This review summarizes the chemical structure, synthesis, properties, and application of PMP.
