The endocrine disruptor chemicals (EDCs) are ubiquitous in the environment, and it has raised wide public concern because of the dangers of EDCs for living organisms and the environment. In order to comparatively study the effects of EDCs [17-α-ethinylestradiol (EE), Bisphenol A (BPA) and Nonylphenol (NP)] on the expression of estrogen receptors (ERs: ) at mRNA and protein level, total 520 adult were exposed to E, EE, BPA and NP with three concentrations respectively: EE (1, 5, 25 ng/l), NP (10, 50, 250 μg/l), BPA (100, 500, 2,500 μg/l) for 28 days, E (2, 20, 200 ng/l) being as the positive control. After treatment, the brain, eye, gill, heart, liver, gut, kidney, muscle, testis, and ovary were collected, following by the real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) and western blot methods to detect the expression levels of , , and in at mRNA and protein level. Our results showed that high expression of , and were detected in liver, while and mainly expressed in the liver, intestine, kidney, muscle and testis. EE, BPA, and NP treatment all up-regulated the expression of , and in the brain, liver, and testis, but with some variations. Similar to mRNA level, both TERα and TERβ were up-regulated by all the EE, BPA, and NP treatment with dose-dependent effect. In conclusion, the responses of ERs of to the EDCs present measurability and susceptibility, which make it possible for to be an efficient biomarker to monitor and evaluate the pollution of endocrine disrupting chemicals in water environment.

Testicular germ cell tumour (TGCT) is a malignancy with known inherited risk factors, affecting young men. We have previously identified several hundred differentially abundant circulating RNAs in pre-diagnostic serum from TGCT cases compared to healthy controls. In this study, we performed Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) on mRNA and miRNA data from these samples.

The liver is a sexually dimorphic organ. Sex differences in prevalence, progression, prognosis and treatment do prevail in most liver diseases, and the mechanism of how liver diseases act differently among male versus female patients have not been fully elucidated. Biological sex differences in normal physiology and disease arise principally from sex hormones and/or sex chromosomes.

ZNF398/ZER6 belongs to the Krüppel-associated box (KRAB) domain-containing zinc finger proteins (K-ZNFs), the largest family of transcriptional repressors in higher organisms. ZER6 exists in two isoforms, p52 and p71, generated through alternative splicing. Our investigation revealed that p71-ZER6 is abundantly expressed in the stomach, kidney, liver, heart, and brown adipose tissue, while p52-ZER6 is predominantly found in the stomach and brain.

Zearalenone (ZEA), produced by Fusarium, is a fungal toxin commonly found in maize, wheat, and other cereals. ZEA has the ability to bind to estrogen receptors of humans and animals and is an environmental endocrine disruptor that may interfere with glucose homeostasis and lipid metabolism. In this study, we first investigated the effects of chronic exposure to low doses of ZEA with a high-fat-diet (HFD) in obese C57BL/6 J mice.

Ovarian tissue cryopreservation addresses critical challenges in fertility preservation for prepubertal female cancer patients, such as the lack of viable eggs and hormonal deficiencies. However, mitigating follicle and granulosa cell damage during freeze-thaw cycles remains an urgent issue. Luteinizing hormone (LH), upon binding to luteinizing hormone receptors (LHR) on granulosa cells, enhances estrogen synthesis and secretion, contributing to the growth of granulosa cells and follicles.
