Group B (GBS) is one of the most common bacteria responsible for placental and neonatal infection and inflammation resulting in lifelong neurobehavioral impairments. In particular, GBS-induced chorioamnionitis is known in preclinical models to upregulate inflammatory pathways, primarily through the activation of the interleukin-1 (IL-1) pathway, leading to brain injury and subsequent neurodevelopmental issues. Previous studies from our laboratory using Lewis rat pups have shown that male offspring exposed in utero to GBS chorioamnionitis develop brain injuries leading to neurobehavioral impairments such as autistic traits.

Chronic histiocytic intervillositis of unknown origin (CHI) is a rare placental disorder associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes, frequent recurrence, and a lack of effective preventive strategies. Recent insights indicate a potential link between CHI-associated inflammatory lesions and the inflammasome pathway, suggesting innovative therapeutic avenues. Here we show a potential role of the inflammasome pathway in CHI through comprehensive transcriptomic analysis of grade 2 or 3 histopathologic CHI samples, paired with placental controls.

Objective: This study aims to assess the prognostic and diagnostic value of inflammatory indexes related to gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) from the second trimester to the third trimester of pregnancy.
Materials And Methods: In this study, we randomly selected 65 pregnant women diagnosed with GDM at our hospital from December 2022 to June 2023 to form the GDM group (n = 65). Additionally, 65 pregnant women at the same gestational weeks without GDM were selected as the Normal group (n = 65).
