A one-dimensional (1D) halogen-bridged dinuclear-metal complex (MMX-chain) exhibits various electronic states based on a mixed-valence metal-dimer system. This report deals with the synthesis and physical properties of a new MMX-chain with a bulky pendant ligand, Pt (mcc-HexCS ) I (mcc-HexCS =trans-4-(methoxycarbonyl)cyclohexanedithiocarboxylate). The steric hindrance caused by the bulky substituent induces a strain in its 1D chain, achieving at ambient condition the first pure alternate charge-polarization (ACP) state (-Pt -Pt -I -Pt -Pt -I -), a kind of spin-Peierls state, as confirmed by X-ray diffraction and its conducting and magnetic properties. The strain effect is also manifested as a very large linear thermal expansion along the chain direction, which is quite different from conventional MMX-chains without a bulky ligand. The design of low-dimensional materials with ligand variations is expected to lead to the emergence of new electron-lattice coupled electronic states.

Objective: This study aims to analyze adverse drug events (ADE) related to romosozumab from the second quarter of 2019 to the third quarter of 2023 from FAERS database.
Methods: The ADE data related to romosozumab from 2019 Q2 to 2023 Q3 were collected. After data normalization, four signal strength quantification algorithms were used: ROR (Reporting Odds Ratios), PRR (Proportional Reporting Ratios), BCPNN (Bayesian Confidence Propagation Neural Network), and EBGM (Empirical Bayesian Geometric Mean).
Background: The aim of this study was to explore the value of heparin-binding protein (HBP) in the early recognition of sepsis coagulopathy (SIC) and the prognosis of sepsis patients.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed for 139 patients with sepsis admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hefei Third People's Hospital from April 2022 through April 2024. The clinical baseline data, disease scores [sequential organ failure (SOFA) score, acute physiology and chronic health status (APACHE II) score, and SIC score], inflammatory markers [HBP, procalcitonin (PCT), and interleukin 6 (IL-6)], coagulation-related indexes [platelet count (PLT), prothrombin time (PT), prothrombin time international normalized ratio (PT-INR), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), fibrinogen (Fib), and D dimer (D-D)], and the survival time and 28-day prognosis of all patients were observed.

The dynamic response of heterogeneous catalytic materials to their environment opens a wide variety of possible surface states which may have increased catalytic activity. In this work, we find that it is possible to generate a surface state with increased catalytic activity over metallic 2nm Pt nanoparticles by performing a thermal treatment of the CO*-covered Pt catalyst. This state is characterised by its ability to oxidise CO to CO2 at room temperature.
