The aim of this study is to assess the bone mineral density (BMD) and -score reference values in a population from 18 to 95 years old in Lombardy region, Italy. This study also investigates the association between BMD values and body mass index (BMI) divided by gender and age. The evaluation of BMD was analyzed by -score and BMD in each site, femur, and column. A total of 10,503 patients (9,627 females and 876 males, 65.04±12.18 years) have been enrolled in this study. The women hip femur reference values associated with a situation of osteopenia highlighted in-line with the class of age of 45 to 55 years were: mean values: -1.3132 -score; 95% confidence interval (CI): -1.3600 to -1.2664 and of osteoporosis from the class of age 85 to 95 years, mean values: -2.6591 -score, 95% CI: -2.7703 to -2.5479. The men hip femur reference values associated with a situation of osteopenia highlighted in-line with the class of age of 45 to 55 years were: mean values: 1.2986 -score; 95% CI: -1.5454 to -1.0518. A positive association between BMI and the two sites of BMD was recorded ( > .05). This study provides an Italian overview of national and regional reference values about the BMD and -score values divided by age and gender as reference values for clinicians for a correct assessment and monitoring.

Progressive systemic inflammation precedes decompensation in compensated cirrhosis.

JHEP Rep

February 2025

Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal, Instituto Ramon y Cajal de Investigación Sanitaria (IRYCIS), Universidad de Alcalá, Madrid, Spain.

Background & Aims: Systemic inflammation is a driver of decompensation in cirrhosis with unclear relevance in the compensated stage. We evaluated inflammation and bacterial translocation markers in compensated cirrhosis and their dynamics in relation to the first decompensation.

Methods: This study is nested within the PREDESCI trial, which investigated non-selective beta-blockers for preventing decompensation in compensated cirrhosis and clinically significant portal hypertension (CSPH: hepatic venous pressure gradient ≥10 mmHg).

Purpose: This study aimed to validate the accuracy of the Active Style Pro HJA-750C (ASP) in measuring metabolic equivalents (METs) during walking and reaching tasks in individuals with subacute stroke using a respiratory gas analyzer as a reference.

Methods: Twenty-three hospitalized patients with subacute stroke participated in this study. They performed sitting and standing reaching tasks, as well as walking while wearing a VO2 Master respiratory gas analyzer and ASP devices on both the paretic and non-paretic sides.

Background: The DCDDaily-questionnaire (DCDDaliy-Q) evaluates children's performance and participation in motor-based activities of daily living (ADLs), meeting diagnostic criterion B for developmental coordination disorder (DCD). Currently, there are no Chinese translations or growth references available. Thus, this study aimed to culturally adapt, validate, and establish reference norms for the DCDDaily-Q in Chinese children.

This study aims to determine and compare the reference values of the haematological and biochemical blood parameters of two fish species collected from the Gökova Bay (Muğla, South-Western of Türkiye): the non-native and invasive Randall's threadfin bream, and the native Common pandora, . Both species inhabit the same environment and compete for resources. Blood samples were collected from a total of 100 fish samples (50 and 50 ) which were caught from a depth of 30 to 60 meters between February 2023 and July 2024.

Objective: Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) showed promising results in diagnosing upper limb neuropathies, but its value in patients with foot drop due to peroneal neuropathy has not yet been investigated. We aim to establish reference values for DTI metrics of the healthy peroneal nerve and to evaluate differences in DTI metrics between patients and healthy controls.

Methods: Diffusion-weighted images (DWI) from 22 pathological nerves, 14 asymptomatic patients' nerves and 65 healthy peroneal nerves were processed for quantitative assessment of fractional anisotropy (FA), radial diffusivity (RD), axial diffusivity and mean diffusivity.
