A case of massive retrogastric bleeding from a neurofibroma arising from the gastric wall is described. The tumour was removed without opening the gastric mucosa. The possibility of neurofibroma should be borne in mind when there is unexplained bleeding from the digestive tract or the intraperitoneal or retroperitoneal space, particularly in patients with von Recklinghausen's disease.

Department of Surgery A, Soroka University Medical Center, Faculty of Health Sciences, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheva, Israel.
Objective: We present a modified method for laparoscopic gastric banding (LGB) based on the extensive personal experience of a single team, and propose a list of comprehensive technical tips that should shorten the operation time, reduce the hospital stay, and minimize the complication rate.
Background: Gastric banding is probably the most commonly performed bariatric procedure in Europe and Australia, as well as in Israel. Because of its minimal invasiveness, efficacy, safety, reversibility, and adjustability, it is considered a breakthrough in bariatric surgery.

Today, laparoscopy plays also a significant role in a great variety of emergency abdominal situations and acute abdominal pain.
