The growth of spontaneous mammary carcinomas in mice was significantly suppressed by administration of RiV-particle-preparations of different species origin (duck, cattle), the survival rate being essentially improved. Despite long-time application of RiV-preparations no side effects could be observed.

Loss-of-function variants in ATP6V0A2, encoding the trans Golgi V-ATPase subunit V0a2, cause wrinkly skin syndrome (WSS), a connective tissue disorder with glycosylation defects and aberrant cortical neuron migration. We used knock-out (Atp6v0a2) and knock-in (Atp6v0a2) mice harboring the R755Q missense mutation selectively abolishing V0a2-mediated proton transport to investigate the WSS pathomechanism. Homozygous mutants from both strains displayed a reduction of growth, dermis thickness, and elastic fiber formation compatible with WSS.

Retinal rods and cones underlie scotopic and photopic vision, respectively. Their pigments exhibit spontaneous isomerizations (quantal noise) in darkness due to intrinsic thermal energy. This quantal noise, albeit exceedingly low in rods, dictates the light threshold for scotopic vision.

Candida albicans is the most common human fungal pathogen, causing diseases ranging from local to life-threating systemic infections. Tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2), a crucial mediator in several cytokine signaling pathways, has been associated with protective functions in various microbial infections. However, its specific contribution in the immune response to fungal infections has remained elusive.

Unexplained spontaneous ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (sOHSS) in a nonpregnant young woman is rare, with fewer than five cases documented in the literature. Although four distinct causative types of sOHSS have been identified, some cases remain beyond the scope of our current understanding. A young Chinese woman with sOHSS presented on multiple occasions with sOHSS between the ages of 18.
