It has been accepted for many years that tumor cells spread the circulation to distant sites. The latency period between treatment and tumor recurrence has been attributed to dormant cells in distant organs that emerge and grow as metastatic tumors. These processes are accepted with an incomplete demonstration of their existence. Challenging such a well-established accepted paradigm is not easy as history as shown. An alternative or co-existing mechanism involving tumor cell migration along the outside of the vessels and co-option of the blood vessel has been studied for over 25 years and is presented. Several lines of data support this new mechanism of tumor spread and metastatic growth and is termed angiotropic extravascular migratory metastasis or EVMM. This slow migration along the outside of the vessel wall may explain the latency period between treatment and metastatic tumor growth. The reader is asked to be open to this possible new concept in how tumors spread and grow and the reason for this latency period. A full understanding of how tumors spread and grow is fundamental for the targeting of new therapeutics.

Background: Tremor, either in patients with Essential Tremor (ET) or Parkinson's disease (PD), constitutes the most common movement disorder. Stereotactic radiosurgery using Gamma Knife (GK) and linear accelerator (LINAC) systems, is an effective, incisionless treatment modality for ET and PD. Although these technologies have been used clinically since the 1990's, most studies have focused on GK, and efficacy, safety and time to treatment effect (latency) of GK and LINAC have not been compared.

Background: Posterior vault distraction osteogenesis (PVDO) is an effective treatment for multisuture and syndromic craniosynostosis. It remains unclear how well the calvarium ossifies after PVDO, especially in older patients when they have plateaued in their cranial growth phase. The purpose of this study is to report outcomes associated with PVDO across a wide range of ages at our institution.

Background: The increase of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) rate among children who were exposed to post-Chernobyl 131-I release was reported only four years after the accident, first in Belarus where the heaviest fallout happened. The evolution of the occurrence of thyroid carcinoma based on the age-period-cohort analysis and the effects of age, period, and birth cohort on time trends aimed to reveal if post-Chernobyl follicular cells irradiation still has been impacting on incidence rate of papillary thyroid carcinoma nowadays.

Methods: The Belarusian Cancer Registry was used to identify patients with PTC diagnosed during the years 1980-2019.
