The possibility to use high-frequency electromagnetic fields (13.56 MHz) as a means of controlled local heating of deep and massive tissue areas was shown in 196 experiments on tissue equivalent phantoms and 20 healthy dogs. The advantages of each type of high-frequency emitters were determined. The thermometric evaluation of heat distribution in local high-frequency heating used in complex treatment of 12 patients with sarcomas of the locomotor system confirmed the experimental results.

AlN/FeNi Microwave-Attenuating Ceramics with High-Efficiency Thermal Conductivity and Microwave Absorption.

The integration, miniaturization, and high frequency of microwave vacuum electronics put forward higher requirements for heat-conducting and wave-absorbing integrated materials. However, these materials must balance the dispersion and isolation of wave-absorbing components to optimize absorption while maintaining the continuity of thermal conductivity pathways with low defect rates and minimal interfaces. This presents a significant challenge in achieving both high thermal conductivity and efficient wave absorption simultaneously.

Abnormal chirality in antiferromagnetic resonance modes of van der Waals 2D magnets.

Sci Rep

School of Physics Science and Engineering, Tongji University, Shanghai, 200092, People's Republic of China.

Two-dimensional van der Waals (2D vdW) materials have attracted widespread research interest due to their unique physical properties and potential application prospects. In this study, an atomistic-level dynamical simulation method is employed to investigate the chirality of antiferromagnetic resonance modes in CrI bilayer. Beyond the typical observations of a linear increase in high-frequency resonance mode and a linear decrease in low-frequency resonance mode, we have identified a distinct magnetization precession chirality in the CrI bilayer at low magnetic fields: Spins in different layers exhibit opposite precession chirality.

Article Synopsis
  • Multichannel transceiver coil arrays are essential for enhancing parallel imaging and B1 manipulation in ultrahigh field MR imaging and spectroscopy, but designing them poses challenges related to high frequency operation and electromagnetic decoupling.
  • This study introduces a high impedance microstrip transmission line resonator (HIMTL) technique that addresses these challenges by providing high frequency capability and sufficient EM decoupling without extra circuits.
  • A two-channel array was created for a 10.5T application, tuned to the proton Larmor frequency of 447 MHz, and tests showed that the HIMTL technique is a viable solution for developing high performance transceiver coils for ultrahigh field MR imaging.

Meta-atoms: From Metamaterials to Metachips.

Research (Wash D C)

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves, Southeast University, Nanjing 211189, China.

Electromagnetic (EM) metamaterials represent a cutting-edge field that achieves anomalously macroscopic properties through artificial design and arrangement of microstructure arrays to freely manipulate EM fields and waves in desired ways. The unit cell of a microstructure array is also called a meta-atom, which can construct effective medium parameters that do not exist in traditional materials or are difficult to realize with traditional technologies. By deep integration with digital information, the meta-atom is evolved to a digital meta-atom, leading to the emergence of information metamaterials.

Cancer and its diverse variations pose one of the most significant threats to human health and well-being. One of the most aggressive forms is blood cancer, originating from bone marrow cells and disrupting the production of normal blood cells. The incidence of blood cancer is steadily increasing, driven by both genetic and environmental factors.
