For the first time, monoterpene trifluoromethylated β-hydroxy-benzyl--oximes were synthesized in 81-95% yields by nucleophilic addition of the Ruppert-Prakash reagent (TMSCF) to the corresponding β-keto-benzyl--oximes based on (+)-nopinone, (-)-verbanone and (+)-camphoroquinone. Trifluoromethylation has been determined to entirely proceed chemo- and stereoselective at the C=O rather than C=N bond. Trifluoromethylated benzyl--oximes were reduced to the corresponding α-trifluoromethyl-β-amino alcohols in 82-88% yields. The structure and configuration of the compounds obtained have been established.

The lungs of people with cystic fibrosis (PwCF) are characterized by recurrent bacterial infections and inflammation. Infections in cystic fibrosis (CF) are left unresolved despite excessive neutrophil infiltration. The role of CFTR in neutrophils is not fully understood.

Amphetamine (AMPH) abuse represents a major global public health issue, highlighting the urgent need for effective therapeutic interventions to manage addiction caused by this psychostimulant. This study aimed to assess the potential of m-trifluoromethyl-diphenyldiselenide [(m-CF-PhSe)] in preventing the addictive effects induced by AMPH through targeting dopamine metabolism proteins. (m-CF-PhSe) is of interest due to its demonstrated efficacy in mitigating opioid abuse, establishing it as a promising candidate for addiction treatment research.

A three-component reaction of trifluoromethyl enones, phosphine oxides, and alcohols in water solution is developed. This defluorinative reaction occurs through a cascade process involving defluorophosphorylation, defluoroalkyloxylation, and defluoroheteroannulation, enabling the modular synthesis of furans with four distinct substituents: 2-alkyloxy, 3-trifluoromethyl, 4-phosphoryl, and 5-(hetero)aryl groups. Moreover, apart from alcohol substrates, the scope of nucleophiles could be further extended to phenols, azacycles, or sulfonamide.

Nitric oxide (NO)-donor drugs, which stimulate reduced form of soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC), have different efficacy to the arteries and veins. This study examined whether sGC activators, which activate oxidized/apo sGC, also have arteriovenous selectivity similar to that of NO-donor drugs. The mechanical responses of the isolated blood vessels were assessed using the organ chamber technique and protein expression was verified using western blotting.
