Plastics in the environment can be degraded and even broken into pieces under the action of natural factors, and the degraded products with a particle size of less than 5 mm are called microplastics (MPs). MPs exist in a variety of environmental media that come into contact with the human body. It can enter the body through environmental media and food chains. At present, there are many studies investigating the damage of MPs to marine organisms and mammals. The liver is the largest metabolizing organ and plays an important role in the metabolism of MPs in the body. However, there is no available systematic review on the toxic effects of MPs on the liver. This paper summarizes the adverse effects and mechanisms of MPs on the liver, by searching the literature and highlighting the studies that have been published to date, and provides a scenario for the liver toxicity caused by MPs.

Prymnesium parvum is one of the main contributors to harmful algal blooms, mainly because of its ability to produce prymnesin, a toxin involved in marine specie deaths occurring in these events. At the same time, scientific works are reporting the existence of microalgae-derived extracellular vesicles in different microalgal strains, which as in other species participate in different cellular processes and intra- and intercellular communication. Now, knowing that each of the toxic Prymnesium parvum strains produce one of the three known types of prymnesin, strains PPSR01, SAG 18.

Phthalates (PAEs), a category of plasticizers released from plastic products, have been widely detected in various environmental media and pose potential ecological risks to humans. Although the exposure risks of PAEs to organisms have been studied, the differences in the interactions between PAEs with different side chain lengths and biomolecules remain poorly understood at molecule levels. In this study, three commonly used PAEs (dimethyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP)) were employed to investigate the influence of their side chain lengths on interactions with catalase (CAT), a key antioxidant enzyme.

Cryopreservation is a fundamental technique for preserving the structural and functional integrity of biological material, particularly for the conservation of genetic resources in avian species. Since its development in the 1940s, this technology has advanced significantly, although challenges persist, primarily due to the unique morphology of avian sperm, which complicates cryoprotectant penetration and increases the risk of structural damage. Overcoming these challenges is crucial for improving semen preservation, supporting the sustainability of avian species, and contributing to conservation efforts.

Tendon injuries present substantial challenges in clinical settings, where traditional treatments often lead to suboptimal outcomes, including scar tissue formation, reduced strength, limited range of motion, and re-ruptures. These difficulties primarily arise from the complex hierarchical structure of tendons and their limited healing capacity. Tissue engineering offers promising solutions for tendon regeneration and muscle-to-bone reconnection, typically through the use of biodegradable scaffolds that mimic the extracellular matrix of tendons, thereby supporting cell growth and tissue formation.
