Objectives: We aim to investigate the utility of middle cerebral artery peak systolic velocity (MCA PSV) Doppler in determining the perinatal mortality and morbidity in serial Doppler measurements from the time of diagnosis to the delivery of complicated cases with fetal growth restriction (FGR).

Methods: At 24-38 weeks of gestation, 65 pregnant women diagnosed with FGR were included in the study. The fetal biometry measurements, MCA pulsatility index (PI), and MCA PSV Doppler evaluation of the cases formed at the diagnosis and the delivery were recorded. Gestational weeks, birth weights, APGAR scores, cord pH values, NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) admission, NICU duration of stay, and perinatal morbidity parameters such as RDS (respiratory distress syndrome), BPD (bronchopulmonary dysplasia), NEC (necrotizing enterocolitis), sepsis and perinatal mortality were compared. The patients were divided into two groups: early and late-onset fetal growth restriction. Perinatal morbidity and mortality were accepted as adverse perinatal outcomes.

Results: MCA PSV above the 95th percentile at the diagnosis and delivery time was seen at a significantly higher rate with adverse perinatal outcomes.

Conclusions: This study shows that evaluating MCA PSV with Doppler can be a helpful diagnostic method for early diagnosis of restriction and hypoxic fetuses. Also, it may be used in clinics as a noninvasive method to predict neonatal prognosis.

Serial intrauterine transfusion for severe fetal anemia due to anti-M alloimmunization.

Asian J Transfus Sci

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine Padjajaran University, Hasan Sadikin General Hospital, Bandung, Indonesia.

Anti-M antibody is one of the causes of severe fetal anemia and intrauterine death despite its relatively low frequency. A G3P2 26-year-old pregnant woman referred to our hospital at 29 weeks gestational age (WGA) with fetal hydrops. Her second pregnancy results in intrauterine fetal death at 35 WGA due to fetal hydrops.

Background: High variability of intracranial arterial blood flow velocities by Transcranial color-coded sonography (TCCS) has been found in clinical practice. This study aimed to improve diagnostic accuracy by analyzing influencing factors of middle cerebral artery (MCA) blood flow velocity detected by TCCS.

Methods: In total, 328 MCA vessels were classified as normal (27.

Complications of twin pregnancy such as twin anemia-polycythemia sequence (TAPS), which involve placental anastomotic vessels, occur mostly in monochorionic diamniotic twins and they have rarely been reported in dichorionic diamniotic (DD) twins. Here, we report a case of DD twins diagnosed with TAPS with fetal hydrops caused by fetal anemia at 28 weeks, which resolved spontaneously during pregnancy. A 37-year-old pregnant woman was referred to our hospital because of a twin pregnancy at 13 weeks.

Introduction: Stroke is one of the most devastating complications of sickle cell disease (SCD). Transcranial Doppler Imaging (TCDI) is the least invasive screening method to predict patients at risk for developing stroke in the disease. After a 10-year follow-up, we longitudinally assessed the TCDI in children with SCD without neurological symptoms.
