Two pairs of unprecedented β-carboline-phenylpropanoid heterogeneous alkaloids, (±)-pheharmines A-B (1-4), characterized by a morpholino[4,3,2-]β-carboline core with two chiral centers, were isolated from the roots of . The structures, including their absolute configurations, were identified using spectroscopic analyses and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations. The biosynthetic hypothesis for the formation of pheharmines A-B was proposed. Compounds 1-4 exhibited moderate cytotoxic activities against HL-60 cell lines.

Background: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is implicated as a necessary factor in the development of multiple sclerosis (MS) and may also be a driver of disease activity. Although it is not clear whether ongoing viral replication is the driver for MS pathology, MS researchers have considered the prospect of using drugs with potential efficacy against EBV in the treatment of MS. Purpose: Pancreatectomy patients often experience challenging fluctuations in blood glucose levels; therefore, they require a reliable monitoring system. This study aimed to determine the accuracy and acceptability of a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system compared with the intermittent capillary glucose test in patients who have undergone pancreatectomy.
Methods: Thirty non-diabetic pancreatectomy patients participated.
