The long-time decay process induced by the persistent photoconductivity (PPC) in metal oxides-based photodetectors (PDs) impedes our demands for high-speed photodetectors. 2D perovskite oxides, emerging candidates for future high-performance PDs, also suffer from the PPC effect. Here, by integrating 2D perovskite SrNbO (SNO) nanosheets and nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs), a unique nanoscale heterojunction is designed to modulate surface/interface carrier transport for enhanced response speed. Notably, the decay time is reduced from hundreds of seconds to a few seconds. The 4%NGQDs-SNO PD exhibits excellent performance with a photocurrent of 0.47 μA, a high on-off ratio of 2.2 × 10, and a fast pulse response speed ( = 67.3 ms), making it promising for UV imaging. The trap-involved decay process plays a dominant role in determining the decay time, resulting in the PPC effect in SNO PD, and the trap states mainly originate from oxygen vacancies and chemisorbed oxygen molecules. A significantly enhanced photoresponse speed in NGQDs-SNO PDs can be ascribed to the modulated surface/interface trap states and the efficient carrier pathway provided by the nanoscale heterojunction. This work provides an effective way to enhance the response speed in 2D perovskite oxides constrained by PPC via surface/interface engineering, promoting their applications in optoelectronics.

Objective: To enhance solubility and bioavailability of glimepiride (GM), an inclusion compound of glimepiride/hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (GM/HP-β-CD) was prepared using mechanical ball milling.
Significance: Based on response surface optimization for the ball milling preparation of the inclusion compound, this study investigates it in vitro and in vivo release and pharmacokinetics.
Methods: GM/HP-β-CD inclusion compound was prepared by optimized ball milling based on response surface methodology and characterized using powder x-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and the stability of the compound were studied.

An accelerated development of durable and affordable sustainable energy technologies is often hindered by a limited understanding of how nonprecious materials within these systems degrade. In acidic proton exchange membrane fuel cells and water electrolyzers, metallic cobalt (Co) is considered an unstable component that is often combined with precious metals or other stabilizers. To understand the mechanisms behind Co instability, we employ an experimental platform that quantifies dissolution with on-line inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and product formation with electrochemical mass spectrometry during electrochemical testing, along with ex situ characterization.

Hypochlorous acid exists as HClO in acidic conditions and as ClO in alkaline conditions, posing a significant challenge for differentiation due to their strong and closely similar oxidative reaction activities. Addressing this challenge, our study presents an asymmetric donor-acceptor-donor' (D-A-D') molecular architecture for the design of a fluorescent probe ( NPs) that demonstrates exceptionally high specificity toward HClO alongside an optimized ratiometric response. The incorporation of the strong electron acceptor 2-(diphenylmethylene)malononitrile (A) modulates the reducing ability of the phenothiazine recognition site, adjusting the probe's oxidation potential to an intermediate level between HClO and ClO.

The versatile photoresponse tunability of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors achieved by tuning the gate voltage has opened promising pathways for in-sensor visual processing. However, the current limited dynamic range and slow response speed of the gate-tunable 2D photodetectors inhibit their implementation under challenging lighting conditions. Here, using a facile, efficient, and universal localized electrostatic screening strategy, we demonstrate an electrostatic screening enabled single-gate-tunable in-plane homojunction photodiode based on WSe with bipolar high dynamic ranges (HDRs) and ultrafast photoresponse.

ZnGaO demonstrates excellent crystalline quality, establishing a heteroepitaxial relationship with the sapphire substrate and exhibiting a 6-fold harmonic symmetry corresponding to the sapphire lattice planes. Cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy analysis reveals the single-crystalline nature of ZnGaO films grown on a sapphire substrate using MOCVD. These findings emphasize the critical role of film uniformity in enhancing the performance metrics of unipolar Schottky photodiodes.
