Hirayama disease, also known as non-progressive juvenile spinal muscular atrophy of the upper limbs, brachial monomelic amyotrophy, or benign focal atrophy, affects the C7 D1 myotomes; an electromyogram (EMG) shows neurogenic damage in the C7-C8-T1 territories. It causes weakness and amyotrophy of the distal upper limb. Although it usually occurs on one side only, bilateral symmetric cases of Hirayama disease have occasionally been described.

Objective: Youth with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) experience elevated rates of internalizing symptoms, although more research is required to understand this phenomenon. Perfectionism, a multidimensional personality trait that involves dimensions such as striving for flawlessness (self-oriented perfectionism) and feeling that others demand perfection (socially-prescribed perfectionism), is a well-known risk factor for internalizing symptoms that has received minimal attention in pediatric populations. Preregistered hypotheses explored the relationships between youth and parent perfectionism and symptoms of depression and anxiety in youth with JIA, as mediated by (a) youth/parent negative self-evaluations and (b) youth self-concealment.

One of the more recent support approaches for stimulant offenders in Japan is to understand and support them based on a self-medication hypothesis; however, the effect of trust on substance abuse severity among incarcerated stimulant offenders has not been examined. Additionally, while accounting for gender differences is essential when providing support for them, these differences have not also been examined.
