Quaternary Trimethyl Chitosan (QTMC) and QTMC-Silver Nanoparticles (QTMC-AgNPs) have been synthesized, characterized, and tested as antibacterial agents against , , and two plant fungi ( and ). The as-prepared water-soluble QTMC was reacted with silver nitrate in the presence of clean compressed hydrogen gas (3 bar) as a reducing agent to produce QTMC-AgNPs. UV-vis, ATR-FTIR, HR-TEM/SEM, XPS, DLS, XRD, and TGA/DTG were employed to assess the optical response, morphology/size, surface chemistry, particle size distribution, crystal nature, and thermal stability of the synthesized QTMC-AgNPs, respectively. The as-prepared QTMC-AgNPs were quasi-spherical in shape with an average particle size of 12.5 nm, as determined by ImageJ software utilizing HR-TEM images and further validated by DLS analysis. The development of crystalline nanoparticles was confirmed by the presence of distinct and consistent lattice fringes with an approximate interplanar -spacing of 2.04 nm in QTMC-AgNPs. The QTMC-AgNPs exhibited significant antibacterial activity with a clear zone of inhibition of 30 mm and 26 mm around the disks against and , respectively. In addition, QTMC-AgNPs showed highly efficient antifungal activity with 100% and 76.67% growth inhibition against two plant pathogens, and , respectively, whereas QTMC revealed no impact. Overall, QTMC-AgNPs showed a promising therapeutic potential and, thus, can be considered for drug design rationale.

The aim of the current study is to develop chitosan-based biomaterials which can sustainably release acetylsalicylic acid while presenting significant biological activity. Herein, an innovative ionic bonding strategy between hydroxypropyl trimethyl ammonium chloride chitosan (HACC) and acetylsalicylic acid (AA) was proposed, skillfully utilizing the electrostatic attraction of the ionic bond to achieve the controlled release of drugs. Based on this point, six crosslinked -[(2-hydroxy-3-trimethylammonium)propyl]chitosan acetylsalicylic acid salt (CHACAA) hydrogel films with varying acetylsalicylic acid contents were prepared by a crosslinking reaction.

The development of multifunctional cotton fabrics that are stain-resistant, antimicrobial, and easy to clean has sparked scientific interest as well as practical usefulness, owing to its medical and healthcare applications. The purpose of this study was to fabricate self-cleaning and antimicrobial cotton for final use by soaking the cotton fabric in nonfluorinated hybrid formulations based on quaternary chitosan-silane using the sol-gel process. The fluorine-free cotton fabric demonstrated high self-cleaning behavior and outstanding bacterial killing efficacy against E.

Hypothesis: Predicting the exact nature of the self-assembly of amphiphilic molecules into supramolecular structures is of utmost importance for a variety of applications, but this is a challenge for nanotechnology. The amphiphilic drug delivery polymer-N-palmitoyl-N-monomethyl-N,N-dimethyl-N,N,N-trimethyl-6-O-glycolchitosan (GCPQ) self-assembles in aqueous media to form nanoparticles.
Experiment: This work aimed to develop a systematic predictive mathematical model on the eventual nature of oil-loaded GCPQ-nanoparticles and to determine the main independent variables that affect their nanoarchitecture following self-assembly.

The delay of diabetic wound healing puts a huge burden on the society. The key factors hindering wound healing include bacterial infection, unresolved inflammation and poorly generated blood vessels. In this paper, glycidyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (GTA) was grafted to chitosan (CS) to obtain quaternary ammonium grafted chitosan (QCS) with enhanced antibacterial performance, and then cross-linked by dialdehyde terminated poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO DA) to construct QCS/PEO DA hydrogel with tissue adhesion, biodegradation and self-healing properties.
