The ways of settling some surgical aspects of a temporary heterotopic transplantation of the liver are analysed in the article. According to the obtained data the placement of the graft into the iliac zone of the abdominal cavity is the most convenient for a temporary heterotopic transplantation of an additional liver. An adequate vascularization of the additional organ can be effected via hepatic artery, which simplifies considerably the removal and replacement of this organ. For a free placement of the graft the weight of the donor should be 2 or 3 times less than that of the recipient.

Introduction: As research advances in vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA), large animal models are essential for translational studies related to immune rejection and graft survival. However, procurement of large flaps can cause significant defects, complicating wound closure and increasing postoperative risks. This study details the surgical techniques and outcomes of autologous vertical rectus abdominis myocutaneous (VRAM) flap transplantation and neck flap isolation with induced ischemia in a swine model.

Article Synopsis
  • - The surgery aimed to address elbow instability resulting from significant coronoid bone loss and ligament insufficiency by performing a bone graft and ligament reconstruction in one procedure.
  • - Diagnosis of coronoid bone loss is confirmed using imaging techniques, and specific surgical methods like an anterior approach offer advantages in accuracy and joint access.
  • - Post-surgery, patients were managed with NSAIDs and a structured rehabilitation protocol; results showed improved elbow stability and high levels of patient satisfaction.
