Background: Nystatin (Nys) is a fungicidal drug commonly prescribed for candidiasis disease in several administration routes. However, Nys is a class IV drug, according to the Biopharmaceutical Classification System, that possesses limited bioavailability and is used for local activity.
Objective: This study developed and characterized nystatin:β-cyclodextrin (Nys:βCD) inclusion complexes and evaluated their activity against spp.
Methods: Complexes were characterized by physicochemical techniques and drug dissolution profiles. The susceptibility of and was assessed using the broth microdilution method. The applicability of Nys:βCD inclusion complex was evaluated by incorporating it into a temporary soft material for denture stomatitis treatment.
Results: Nys was better complexed in a 1:1 molar ratio by freeze-drying and spray-drying methods. The inclusion complexes show bi-exponential release, an initial burst release followed by a sustained manner, presenting higher dissolution efficiency than raw Nys. The 1:1 freeze-drying Nys:βCD complex presents antifungal activity against all evaluated strains, showing the maintenance of the drug effectiveness. The inclusion complex incorporated into a tissue conditioner material for denture stomatitis treatment effectively inhibited more than 90% of C. albicans biofilm growth during 7 and 14 days, in a half dose compared to raw Nys.
Conclusion: This work represents a significant contribution to treating a wide variety of diseases caused by the species, optimizing the drug bioavailability and compliance to the treatment due to improved drug solubility, dissolution, and sustained delivery.

Background: Penile implant surgery is the standard surgical treatment for end-stage erectile dysfunction. However, the growing complexity of modern high-tech penile prostheses has increased the demand for more practical training opportunities. The most advanced contemporary training methods involve simulation training using cadavers, with costs exceeding $5,000 per cadaver, inclusive of biohazard fees.

Advancements in reproductive technology are now approaching an unprecedented frontier: the pregnancy robot, a potential artificial womb capable of carrying a fetus from fertilization to birth. This innovation, by simulating the natural uterine environment, could redefine pregnancy and parenthood, offering transformative benefits for maternal and infant health. The pregnancy robot promises safer pathways for individuals with medical risks, LGBTQ + couples, and single parents, while also reducing the risks of complications like preeclampsia and preterm birth.

Context: Available diabetes risk calculators were developed for able-bodied individuals, but their metabolic profile is different from individuals with spinal cord injury.
Objectives: We aimed to develop a diabetes risk assessment tool specific to individuals with spinal cord injury.
Methods: We used national Veterans Affairs data to identify patients with at least a 2-year history of spinal cord injury and no prior history of diabetes with a Veterans Heath Affairs visit from 2005-2007, and followed the 11,054 individuals that met inclusion criteria for up to 17 years to assess diabetes development.

Introduction: Research on the association between blood groups and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in Africa, including Algeria, is notably limited, with a primary focus on blood donors. This narrow scope hinders a comprehensive understanding of the genetic diversity of blood groups and their potential links to CVD risk within the African context. To bridge this knowledge gap, this study proposes to investigate the distribution of blood group genotypes and their association with CVD prevalence, aiming to enhance knowledge within the African context and contribute to global insights into the relationship between blood groups and CVD.

Molecular profiling (MP), which involves testing tissue, blood, or other body fluids to identify biomarkers, has become increasingly important in cancer treatment. Genomic tumor sequencing, a specific type of MP, is commonly used to identify specific gene variants or proteins that can be targeted for treatment. Germline testing is also routinely recommended for certain cancers.
