Published: October 2022

A copper triflate-mediated approach to access copper complexes of pyrrole-substituted corroles from the reaction of 1,9-diformyldipyrromethanes and an excess amount of pyrrole is presented for the first time. This procedure is a simple and efficient way for the preparation of corroles with a polymerizable substituent on -positions.

One-carbon homologation reactions based on one-carbon insertion into the N-O bond of heterocycles have received tremendous interest over the past decades. However, these protocols have to rely on the use of hazardous and not easily accessible diazo compounds as precursors, and examples of the relevant asymmetric catalysis have not been reported. Here we show that a copper-catalyzed intermolecular formal (5 + 1) annulation of 1,5-diynes with 1,2,5-oxadiazoles involving one-carbon insertion into the heterocyclic N-O bond via non-diazo approach.

Great attempts have been done for the development of novel antiviral compounds against SAR-CoV-2 to end this pandemic situation and save human society. Herewith, we have synthesized 3-substituted indole/2-substituted pyrrole 1,2-dihydropyridine and azaxanthone scaffolds using simple, commercially available starting materials in a one-pot, green, and regioselective manner. Further, the regioselectivity of product formation was confirmed by various studies such as controlled experiments, density functional theory (DFT), Mulliken atomic charge, and electrostatic potential (ESP) surface.

Beta-pyrrole-substituted porphyrin dyads connected by ethynyl linkage to N-butylcarbazole or triphenylamine donors are reported. Donor-π-acceptor type beta-substituted porphyrin dyads and their Zn(II) and Pd(II) complexes were characterized by MALDI-MS, NMR, UV-vis absorption, fluorescence and cyclic voltammetry techniques. The S emission dynamics were analyzed by time-resolved spectroscopy (TCSPC); dyads exhibited efficient energy transfer up to 93% from beta-donors (N-butylcarbazole or triphenylamine group) to the porphyrin core.

A highly divergent synthesis of regioisomeric thiohydantoins and pseudothiohydantoins spiro-fused to a pharmacologically valuable pyrrole-2-one fragment involving the reaction of []-fused 1-pyrrole-2,3-diones with thioureas was developed. The obtained spiro pseudothiohydantoin derivatives were found to undergo a pseudothiohydantoin-thiohydantoin rearrangement. The reactions were shown to proceed under catalyst-free conditions in good yields, and the products were isolated without applying preparative chromatography methods.
