The organocatalytic enantioselective hydrophosphinylation of various secondary phosphine sulfides with aromatic and aliphatic nitroalkenes is presented in this study. The reaction produced chiral β-nitrophosphine sulfides with excellent yields and enantioselectivities (up to 99% yield and 99% ee). Furthermore, the chiral β-nitrophosphine sulfides can be easily converted into α-substituted β-aminophosphine, which is a family of useful P, N-ligands and phosphine catalysts.

Background: Clinical data on patients infected with influenza B Victoria (BV) after the approval of baloxavir is lacking.

Methods: This observational study of the Japanese 2023-2024 influenza season analyzed data from 25 outpatients with A(H1N1)pdm09, 36 with A(H3N2), and 65 with BV. Viral samples were collected before and after administering an antiviral (70 patients received baloxavir and 56 received a neuraminidase inhibitor), on days 1, 5, and 10.

A cell-surface ectonucleotidase CD39 mediates the conversion of extracellular adenosine triphosphate into immunosuppressive adenosine with another ectonucleotidase CD73. The elevated adenosine in the tumor microenvironment attenuates antitumor immunity, which promotes tumor cell immunologic escape and progression. Anti-CD39 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), which suppress the enzymatic activity, can be applied to antitumor therapy.

Hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) connected with electrospray high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (MS) was used for the analysis of unusual amino acid (AA) substituted phosphatidylglycerols (PG) and cardiolipins (CL) in mesophilic and thermophilic bacteria. Individual peaks from the lipid class separation by HILIC were isolated and hydrolyzed to determine the absolute configuration of the aminoacyl side chain. The configuration of the aminoacyl side chain was assigned by indirect liquid chromatography (LC) enantiomer separation after the hydrolysis of the aminoacylated (aminoacyl) lipids using N-(4-nitrophenoxycarbonyl)-l-phenylalanine 2-methoxyethyl ester as chiral derivatizing agent and reversed phase LC-MS for analysis.

The C-Terminal Domain of RNase H and the C-Terminus Amino Acid Residue Regulate Virus Release and Autoprocessing of a Defective HIV-1 Possessing M50I and V151I Changes in Integrase.

November 2022

Laboratory of Human Retrovirology and Immunoinformatics, Applied and Developmental Directorate, Frederick National Laboratory, Frederick, MD 21702, USA.

Previously, we reported that an HIV-1 variant containing Met-to-Ile change at codon 50 and Val-to-Ile mutation at codon 151 of integrase (IN), HIV(IN:M50I/V151I), was an impaired virus. Despite the mutations being in IN, the virus release was significantly suppressed ( < 0.0001) and the initiation of autoprocessing was inhibited; the mechanism of the defect remains unknown.

We report acetamidinium (AA)-substituted methylammonium (MA) lead iodide perovskite solar cells. AA has a restricted C-N bond rotation because of delocalized π-electron cloud over the N-C-N bond and the presence of an additional N-H···I bond (4H-bond in AA as compared to 3H-bond in MA). These bonding structures strengthen the electrostatic interaction and stabilize the AA cation inside the perovskite matrix.
