To achieve an effective phase unwrapping for hue-based fringe projection profilometry, this paper proposes a hue-indexing-based absolute phase retrieval method using a discrete hue sequence. First, the hue component is extracted as the wrapped phase for 3D reconstruction by projecting a programmed hue fringe pattern. Afterward, a hue-indexing sequence with a random combination of six unique hues from the hue map is designed for hue unwrapping. By assigning a hue index of the fringe geometric center, the defocusing effect in the hue unwrapping is corrected, where the fringe order of the wrapped hue is then uniquely identified. The simulations show that the root mean square (RMS) of the residual error is 2.2185×10 , and the effectiveness of the proposed method is further verified through experiments using a plaster statue and a compressor blade. The measurement comparison of the proposed method and the coordinate measuring machine is provided, where the RMS error of the measured deviation is 4.09×10 .

Heterocyclic aromatic amines (HAAs), formed during the cooking of meat, are potential human carcinogens, underscoring the need for long-lived biomarkers to assess exposure and cancer risk. Frequent consumption of well-done meats containing 2-amino-1-methyl-6-phenylimidazo[4,5-]pyridine (PhIP), a prevalent HAA that is a prostatic carcinogen in rodents and DNA-damaging agent in human prostate cells, has been linked to aggressive prostate cancer (PC) pathology. African American (AA) men face nearly twice the risk for developing and dying from PC compared to White men.

() has garnered increasing attention as an ingredient in both the pharmaceutical and food industries. Depending on the drying method, the accumulation of metabolites can greatly affect the quality. This research employed an untargeted metabolomics (LC-MS/MS) strategy to elucidate the similarities and differences in the morphological characteristics, microstructure, antioxidant capacity, and metabolic profiles of subjected to three distinct drying methods: natural air-drying (YG), oven-drying (HG), and vacuum freeze-drying (DG).

December 2024

Optometric - Glaucoma, Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester, GBR.

Colour vision defects (CVDs) can be both congenital and acquired, with acquired dyschromatopsia often associated with medication toxicity. This review explores various standardised colour vision tests used to detect these defects, including the Ishihara plate test, Farnsworth-Munsell 100 hue test, and anomaloscopes. These methods are evaluated for their effectiveness in diagnosing CVDs, particularly in acquired conditions.
