The Zhaoshan long-baseline Atom Interferometer Gravitation Antenna (ZAIGA) is a new, to the best of our knowledge, type of large-scale atom interferometer facility under construction for the study of gravitation and related problems. To meet the different requirements of the laser system for the atom interferometer using various atoms (including , , , and ), we design and implement a modular assembled laser system. By dividing the laser system into different basic units according to their functions and modularizing each unit, the laser system is made highly scalable while being compact and stable. Its intensity stability is better than 0.1% in 10 and 0.5% in 10. We test the performance of the laser system with two experimental systems, i.e., an - dual-species ultracold atom source and an atom interferometer. The - dual-species magneto-optical trap and the atom interference fringes are realized by using this laser system, indicating that its technical performance can meet the major experimental requirements.

Chirality, a basic property of symmetry breaking, is crucial for fields such as biology and physics. Recent advances in the study of chiral systems have stimulated interest in the discovery of symmetry-breaking states that enable exotic phenomena such as spontaneous gyrotropic order and superconductivity. Here we examine the interaction between light chirality and electron spins in indium selenide and study the effect of magnetic field on emerging tunnelling photocurrents at the Van Hove singularity.

Laboratory for Air Pollution/Environmental Technology, Empa, 8600 Dübendorf, Switzerland.

Mid-infrared laser absorption spectroscopy enables rapid and nondestructive analysis of methane clumped isotopes. However, current analytical methods require a sample size of 20 mL STP (0.82 mmol) of pure CH gas, which significantly limits its application to natural samples.

In this study, we present an unexplored approach for remote focus manipulation using 3D nanoprinted holograms integrated on the end face of multi-core single-mode fibers. This innovative method enables precise focus control within a monolithic metafiber device by allowing light coupled into any of the 37 cores to be precisely focused at predefined locations. Our approach demonstrates significant advances over conventional lenses and offers unique functionalities through computationally designed holograms.

Comparison between the SGRT and the conventional setup method for patients undergoing VMAT for pelvic malignancies.

Appl Radiat Isot

January 2025

Department of Medical Physics, Medical School, University of Crete, Heraklion, Greece. Electronic address:

Purpose: Surface Guided Radiation Treatment (SGRT) is a new method of positioning and monitoring patients on the linear accelerator's couch, using visual light cameras to monitor the skin's surface. The purpose of this study was to compare the SGRT with the conventional method, based on lasers and tattoos, in terms of accuracy and time expenditure, on patients with pelvic malignancies.

Materials And Methods: A group of 34 patients were enrolled in this study, 24 males who underwent radiotherapy prostate treatment and 10 females who underwent gynecological radiation therapy.

Purpose: To evaluate an alternative surgical approach for Port Delivery System with ranibizumab (PDS) implant and a novel application of Iridex laser system in Gottingen minipig model.

Methods: A total of seventeen male minipigs (Part 1: 9 animals in non-recovery and Part 2: 8 animals observed for 8-days post-surgery Part 2) received PDS implant insertion into each eye. The effect of Iridex 810 nm infrared diode laser with varying energy (power or duration) on transscleral pars plana ablation, surrounding ocular tissue and postsurgical vitreous hemorrhage (VH) was investigated.
