Background: Current methods to measure intragastric pH in horses have limitations. A wireless capsule has been designed for continuous esophageal pH monitoring in humans.
Objectives: To (1) determine the feasibility and describe the methodology of measuring intragastric pH wirelessly in horses; and (2) determine attachment duration of the capsules.

This is the first study that targets the epidemiology of Gasterophilus spp. in slaughtered horses from Romania. Previously to our research, there were five recorded species: Gasterophilus haemorrhoidalis, Gasterophilus inermis, Gasterophilus intestinalis, Gasterophilus nasalis, and Gasterophilus pecorum with a dispersed distribution throughout the country, the data being recorded more than 73 years ago.

Gastric ulcer (GU) is the most common health concern that occurs due to an imbalance between gastric protective mucosal and aggressive factors. Ethanol-induced GU in animal models resembles the pathophysiology of human ulcers. Natural products with fewer side effects are highly requested to attenuate their GU effects.

Endoscopic fragmentation or removement of gastric bezoar is the simplest, most cost-effective approach, while the traditional endoscopic device include foreign body forceps, polypectomy snare, laser lithotripsy, and electrohydraulic lithotripsy. For bezoar < 3 cm, traditional snares are preferred. But for some giant or hard bezoars, traditional snares are too easily deformed to be used continuously and can be embedded in the bezoar causing direct damage to the stomach , Therefore, a handy and effective snare-like approach is needed, especially for elderly patients who have a high surgical risk.
