Background: Prior research shows that caregiving for people living with dementia (PLWD) varies with cultural, institutional, and social structural context, but less is known about the role of context in dementias of different etiologies. We compared experiences of caregiving in frontal-temporal dementia (FTD) versus non-FTD dementias using community-based comparative ethnography. We expected to find differences in caring for people living with FTD (PLWFTD) versus people living with other dementias (PLWOD).

Background: The Promoting Independence Through quality Care at Home (PITCH) project aimed to improve outcomes for people with dementia and their carers via a co-designed training intervention for home care workers (HCWs). The results of the primary efficacy analysis of the successful stepped-wedge cluster RCT (n = 172 HCWs in 18 clusters in 7 Australian service providers) were presented at AAIC 2023.
Method: This presentation goes beyond efficacy and discusses the implementation science (process evaluation and behavioural change) and health economic analysis of the intervention.

Background: During the recent years, emergency services in several countries have integrated video streaming into medical emergency calls, and research on the topic has gained increased focus. Video streaming during medical emergency calls may change dispatcher's perspective of the call and can be a helpful tool for supervising bystanders' first aid. Background: Amyloidosis is a complex multi-systemic disease. Lack of knowledge about amyloidosis and subsequent mis- or under-diagnosis are major obstacles to treatment, which result in life-threatening organ damage, heart failure, morbidity, and mortality. At present, medical didactic education about amyloidosis leaves new physicians woefully unprepared to suspect and diagnose amyloidosis.

In this study, I report an unexpected case of a Holstein calf that developed horns even though the sire was homozygous and the dam was heterozygous for polledness. After verifying and confirming the correct parentage, the parents and offspring were genotyped with the Illumina EuroG_MD BeadChip and the SNPs in the polled region on chromosome 1 were evaluated. In addition, the father was sequenced with next generation sequencing to identify possible, previously unknown variants.
