As a coherent diffraction imaging technique, ptychography provides high-spatial resolution beyond Rayleigh's criterion of the focusing optics, but it is also sensitively affected by the decoherence coming from the spatial and temporal variations in the experiment. Here we show that high-speed ptychographic data acquisition with short exposure can effectively reduce the impact from experimental variations. To reach a cumulative dose required for a given resolution, we further demonstrate that a continuous multi-pass scan via high-speed ptychography can achieve high-resolution imaging. This low-dose scan strategy is shown to be more dose-efficient, and has potential for radiation-sensitive sample studies and time-resolved imaging.

Fourier Ptychographic Microscopy (FPM) provides high-resolution imaging and morphological information over large fields of view, while Computational Scattered Light Imaging (ComSLI) excels at mapping interwoven fiber organization in unstained tissue sections. This study introduces Fourier Ptychographic Scattered Light Microscopy (FP-SLM), a new multi-modal approach that combines FPM and ComSLI analyses to create both high-resolution phase-contrast images and fiber orientation maps from a single measurement. The method is demonstrated on brain sections (frog, monkey) and sections from thigh muscle and knee (mouse).

Fourier ptychography (FP) is a high resolution wide-field imaging method based on the extended aperture in the Fourier space, which is synthesized from raw images with varying illumination angles. If FP is extended to coherent nonlinear optical imaging, the resolution could be further improved due to the increase of the cutoff frequency of the synthesized coherent optical transfer function (C-OTF) with respect to the order of nonlinear optical processes. However, there is a fundamental conflict between wide-field FP and nonlinear optical imaging, whereby the nonlinear optical imaging typically requires a focused excitation laser beam with high power density.

SiO2 aggregates in styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) were observed using ptychographic X-ray computed tomography (PXCT). The rubber composites were illuminated with X-rays focused by total reflection focusing mirrors, and the ptychographic diffraction patterns were collected using a CITIUS detector in the range of -75° to +75° angle of incidence. The projection images of the rubber composites were reconstructed with a two-dimensional resolution of 76 nm, and no significant structural changes were observed during the PXCT measurements.
