Bisphosphonates are drugs used to treat bone disorders. The chronic use of bisphosphonates is associated with the occurrence of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ). Previous data reported the positive effects of Geranylgeraniol on different cell types treated with Bisphosphonates. Foregoing work done by our research group demonstrated the wound healing capacity of (Bonpl.) L.G.Lohmann standardized ethanol extract. Herein cytoprotective synergistic effect of the association of extract associated with an enriched geranylgeraniol fraction on keratinocytes exposed to zoledronic acid is reported. An association of at 1 and 5 µg/mL with geranylgeraniol at 15 µg/mL, increased cell viability by 73.5% and 71.1%, respectively. This treatment did not increase tumor cells viability; whereas the clonogenic potential assessment showed that, the association with (5 µg/mL) reversed the effects of zoledronic acid on the cells. This study provides data for a potential treatment for MRONJ.

Background: Opioids are still being prescribed to manage acute postsurgical pain. Unnecessary opioid prescriptions can lead to addiction and death, as unused tablets are easily diverted.

Methods: To determine whether combination nonopioid analgesics are at least as good as opioid analgesics, a multisite, double-blind, randomized, stratified, noninferiority comparative effectiveness trial was conducted, which examined patient-centered outcomes after impacted mandibular third-molar extraction surgery.

Introduction: Pain is one of the most frequently reported symptoms in hemodialyzed (HD) patients, with prevalence rates between 33% and 82%. Risk factors for chronic pain in HD patients are older age, long-lasting dialysis history, several concomitant diseases, malnutrition, and others. However, chronic pain assessment in HD patients is rarely performed by specialists in pain medicine, with relevant consequences in terms of diagnostic and treatment accuracy.

Male tephritid fruit flies typically emit pheromones from rectal glands to attract mates. Consistent with this, virgin females of the cucumber fruit fly, Zeugodacus cucumis (French), were found to be attracted to volatiles emitted by crushed male rectal glands in Y-tube olfactometer bioassays. Electrophysiological studies identified several male rectal gland compounds that triggered responses in female antennae.

Background: The association between serum uric acid (SUA) and dyslipidaemia is still unclear in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aimed to examine the association between SUA and dyslipidaemia and to explore whether there is an optimal SUA level corresponding to the lower risk of suffering from dyslipidaemia.

Research Design And Methods: This cross-sectional study included 1036 inpatients with T2DM and the clinical data were extracted from the hospital medical records.
