Background: An intrapericardial organized haematoma secondary to chronic type A aortic dissection is an extremely rare cause of right heart failure. Imaging studies are essential in recognising and diagnosis of this distinctive medical condition and guiding the anticipated treatment.
Case Presentation: A 70-year-old male patient was admitted for progressive symptoms of right heart failure.

The Achilles heel of mechanical valves appears to be the need for anticoagulation. Several different types of mechanical valves have come and gone. The success or lack thereof of these valves depended on their various designs.

Purpose: To assess valvular flow characteristics and pressure drop in a variety of normal and stenotic prosthetic heart valves (PHVs) using 4D Flow MRI.
Materials And Methods: In-vitro flow phantoms with four different PHVs were studied: Medtronic-Hall tilting disc, St. Jude Medical standard bileaflet (STJM), Medtronic CoreValve Evolut R and Edwards SAPIEN 3.

Background: Reference values of hemodynamic parameters for the assessment of prosthetic heart valves are necessary, and ideally need to be provided by entities independent of the valve manufacturers. Thus, the study aim was to provide, in vitro, normal reference values of the effective orifice area (EOA) for different models and sizes of mitral prosthetic valve, and to assess the determinants of EOA and mean transvalvular pressure gradient (mTPG).
Methods: Four models of mechanical prostheses were tested (one mono-leaflet, three bi-leaflet) and four models of bioprostheses (two bovine pericardial, two porcine) on a double-activation pulsed duplicator that was specifically designed and optimized for assessing the hemodynamic performance of mitral prosthetic valves.
