Background: Cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI) is a prevalent complication with poor outcomes, and its early prediction remains a challenging task. Currently available biomarkers for acute kidney injury (AKI) include serum cystatin C (sCysC) and urinary N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (uNAG). Widely used biomarkers for assessing cardiac function and injury are N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) and cardiac troponin I (cTnI).

Background: Hypertension therapy in older adults is often suboptimal, in part because of inadequate suppression of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). We hypothesised that distinct endotypes of RAAS activation before noncardiac surgery are associated with increased risk of myocardial injury.
Methods: This was a prespecified exploratory analysis of a multicentre randomised controlled trial (ISRCTN17251494) which randomised patients ≥60 yr old undergoing elective noncardiac surgery to either continue or stop RAAS inhibitors (determined by pharmacokinetic profiles).
Background: Limited data from the literature are available to assess the efficacy of coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Therefore, our objective was to use machine learning techniques integrating clinical features, biomarker data, and echocardiography data to enhance comprehension and risk stratification in patients diagnosed with ischemic cardiomyopathy and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction who have undergone coronary artery bypass grafting surgery.
Methods And Results: For this study, 294 patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting surgery were assigned to the development cohort (n=176) and the independent validation cohort (n=118).

Chronic otitis media (COM) poses significant challenges globally, affecting millions with hearing impairment and associated morbidities. This prospective study aimed to compare the surgical outcomes of type I tympanoplasty with and without canaloplasty in adolescent patients with COM, focusing on hearing improvement and graft success rates. Sixty-eight patients aged 11-18 years, diagnosed with inactive mucosal disease and conductive hearing loss, were enrolled from 01 January 2022 to 01 July 2023.

Background: The prognostic significance of D-dimer in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy undergoing septal myectomy has not been well established.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed D-dimer levels in 728 patients who underwent septal myectomy at our hospital between 2009 and 2018. Baseline D-dimer levels were categorized into tertiles (<0.
