Arthroscopy
March 2025
NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, 301 East 17(th) Street, New York, NY 10010.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and survivorship in obese patients undergoing hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) at 10-year follow-up.
Methods: A retrospective review was conducted of patients who underwent arthroscopy for FAIS from 2010-2013. Patients were assessed at baseline, 1 month, 6 months, 1-, 2-, 5-, and 10 years using the modified Harris Hip Score (mHHS) and Nonarthritic Hip Score (NAHS).
Arthroscopy
March 2025
NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, 301 E 17th St, New York, NY 10010. Electronic address:
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the 10-year arthroplasty-free survivorship of patients over 50 years of age who underwent knee arthroscopy and to assess whether this survivorship is affected by the diagnoses of knee osteoarthritis (OA) or obesity at the time of arthroscopy.
Methods: The New York Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (SPARCS) administrative database from 2010 to 2020 was queried to identify all patients over the age of 50 who underwent knee arthroscopy. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to assess arthroplasty-free survivorship.
J Arthroplasty
March 2025
Ascension-Providence Hospital Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Southfield, Michigan; MARCQI Coordinating center, Ann Arbor, Michigan; The Core Institute, Novi, Michigan. Electronic address:
Introduction: While cemented total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is considered the gold standard, uncemented designs are gaining popularity, especially in young men who are at higher risk of cemented failure. Assessing this growth's impact, the Michigan Arthroplasty Registry Collaborative Quality Initiative (MARCQI) analyzed adoption rates of uncemented TKA and the effect of fixation technique on revision rates with the goal of assessing the revision rates and survivorship at five years of cemented versus uncemented TKA to further classify which patients may be more ideal candidates for cementless fixation.
Methods: The MARCQI data from 2017 to 2022 was analyzed to determine the survivorship of cemented versus uncemented TKAs.
Oral Oncol
March 2025
Department of Radiation Oncology, Princess Margaret Cancer Center, University of Toronto, Canada. Electronic address:
Objectives: This study aimed to assess changes in unmet needs among patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) from pre-treatment to two years post-treatment and identify factors associated with higher levels of unmet needs.
Materials & Methods: Patients treated for HNC at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre between June 2016 and February 2019 were recruited. Participants completed the Cancer Survivors' Unmet Needs Measure Questionnaire (CaSUN), the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy - Head and Neck (FACT-HN) questionnaire, and the EuroQol EQ-5D-5L utility and Visual Analog Scale (EQ-5D-5L and VAS) pre-treatment and at 3, 6, 12, and 24-months post-treatment.
Purpose: To identify the experiences and challenges some cancer survivors face in managing lymphoedema and to explore how they and healthcare professionals can best address them.
Methods: A qualitative participatory methodology was employed, involving two stakeholder consultation workshops (one face-to-face and one online). Sessions were audio-recorded, and thematically analysed.
