Relationship between certain hematological parameters and risk of breast cancer.

To explore the association between preoperative hemoglobin-to-red cell distribution width ratio (HRR), platelet-to-monocyte ratio or monocyte-to-high-density lipoprotein ratio and risk of breast cancer. The clinical data of 226 patients with breast cancer were retrospectively analyzed and compared with 199 healthy controls by multivariate logistic regression analysis. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that HRR (p < 0.001) and monocyte-to-high-density lipoprotein ratio (p < 0.001) were independent predictors of breast cancer and lower HRR was associated with longer hospitalization, larger red cell distribution width value and lower hemoglobin level (p < 0.05). A significant association was found between HRR and clinical characteristics in breast cancer patients. Therefore, HRR is expected to become a novel and promising predictor of breast cancer.
